We now have 0 PGs for next year.

Time to sell a grad transfer on an immediate starting time. I don't think Cumberland comes back to this.

It all sounds bad, but with the transfer portal it's a whole new world. Brannen can pick players up just like a trip to the store.

Agree. This ought to loosen things up for interested folks.

Sad to see him leave. I think we know one thing about the basketball team next year, it’s going to look completely different.

RE: LoJo in the transfer portal - UCGrad1992 - 05-10-2019 07:29 PM

I don't see him listed yet on this site:

LoJo Go?

RE: LoJo in the transfer portal - BearcatMan - 05-10-2019 07:49 PM

If Jarron comes back, his usage rate will be in the 60s 03-lmfao.

He's going to be doing some Will Chamberlain s*** next year.

He is a plus athlete but his shot is busted. He's got some potential, but I wonder what level of program he'll end up at. Sorry to see him go. He made that great play jumping the pass to Martin to end the game against Memphis.

PG Jaevin Cumberland (RS JR) is still out there and immediately eligible to play. I don't know if he fits what Brannen is trying to do but it would seem to be a great connection to UC. The kid may not want to go to the same school as his younger brother but that would be a cool thing for that tandem. I wonder if LoJo looking to transfer may open the door more for Jaevin? Then I found this article from yesterday:

Quote:With Charles Matthews and Jordan Poole going pro and the realistic possibility Ignas Brazdeikis could follow suit, the Wolverines could be left replacing their top three scorers and perimeter players.

One possible option is grad transfer guard Jaevin Cumberland, who originally announced in March he would finish his career with the Golden Grizzlies before having a change of heart and entering the transfer portal last month.

Cumberland told The Detroit News on Thursday he visited Michigan on Monday and Tuesday and left Ann Arbor with a scholarship offer.

“I’m just trying to show my talents on a bigger stage,” he said. “They said an opportunity is there.”

Cumberland (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) would be immediately eligible to play for the 2019-20 season and, on the surface, is an ideal fit for the Wolverines.

Here is the thing, UC is tournament with Cumberland and is in a rebuild mode without him. Every single player that has transferred out of UC is the college basketball equivalent of high major replacement level.

Last year UC was Cumberland and parade of above average to decent role players. As of today the two best in that are still here. Brannen job is to find suitable replacements will building the future.

While coaching changes are messy, most schools have major roster turnover every season but they also recruit over players and are active in the transfer market.

Mick was stabilizing, little roster movement but little roster growth from the outside. I think we forget the Huggins years where off season usually includes player defections, off court incidents, and big time recruits. I believe under Brannen the basketball program will have a more eventful off season every year.

anybody notice that the Transfer Portal list shows NKU's freshman 7' footer Vogt is on it?
wondering if he's wanting to transfer to UC after sitting a year. Might be a good transfer for the future.

RE: LoJo in the transfer portal - bearcat54 - 05-10-2019 10:10 PM

does LO JO think he can play at UCLA?

That's interesting. He was a 3* recruit out of high school.

In high school he once had a triple double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 17 blocks.

Hard pass. Dude could barely move.

Respectfully disagree. Think he could potentially at least be a good backup and situational player. While probably needing to sit a year he might surprise and develop in that time.

Why bounce around the G League when you could come back and become a top 3 all time scorer at UC? If he could somehow will next year's team to the tournament he could go down as one of the absolute all time greats in Bearcat great. (Hi Jarron :)

Can Jarron improve his draft prospects playing for a team that might not make the tourney? To me, overseas $$$ > another year of marginal impact to his draft stock. He's going to really have to buy into Brannen's plan for this coming year to forego professional basketball.

He basically took a team that without him doesn’t even sniff the NCAA tournament. If he comes back he will be fine and so will UC.

Cumberland would play a lot of PG next season. Performing well would definitely enhance his draft stock.
