Bellarmine, USI and Indianapolis are looking to move up to DI - NoDak - 04-29-2019 10:02 PM

A UMKC and Chicago St division with these schools would actually fit. But think they have other conferences in mind.

This article does not mention or have anything to do with the WAC or it's current members. Can mods please move this post to the general realignment board, where it belongs?

Plus it doesn't say that Indy is looking to go to DI, just a better football conference, which is more likely a different D2 conference.

The last thing the WAC needs is more expansion of the geographic footprint eastward. The conference should keep building in the west and eventually shed the eastern outliers.

Guess there is no interest here, but Wayne St is building a new bb arena with a partnership with the Detroit Pistons.

Wayne St is one of the largest DII schools now and used to be DI in the past.[/i]

But the WAC is looking west with their last 2 additions being in California and Utah. Why would they east of Chicago?

A neighborly thing to do is add those eastern teams and then jettison them with Chi St with UMKC so they have potential conference partners. Chi St and UMKC helped the WAC over the hump period and then to just dump them would be almost criminal.

There is nothing neighborly about college athletics.

If we have learned 1 thing about college sports its about looking out for your own best interest. Chicago St UMKC have only given the WAC warm bodies. CBU has done more in their 1st year in the WAC than CSU or UMKC has done for the league.

Did they donate a lot of money or something?

Conferences are in fact socialist institutions, which most presidents love.

But most college athletics is cut throat.

So, NoDak trolled my thread from the alignment board which I never said they were going to D1.

It does sound like UMKC and Augustana would be invited to the Summit soon. Which I think Tarleton State is the most ready to join the WAC.

As for Wayne State? They could get invited to Horizon League with that arena.

You're putting a lot of hopes on that new arena at Wayne State. It will have a capacity of only 3,000. It will be smaller than 83 D2 arenas and 307 D1 arenas. In the Horizon, Oakland has the smallest arena at 4,000 while the rest of the league has from 13,610 to 6,300.

The Wayne State arena will be tied to the Detroit Pistons organization.

That alone would be a better recruiting tie in than almost any other Horizon League arena.

Wayne St could get in the NEC first and then move up.
