GCU signs TCU transfer Jaylen Fisher (6'2, 195, PG, SR). Not sure if he will be immediately eligible, but did see something about a medical redshirt that is pending approval. Based on criteria the criteria, it appears he may qualify to get a season of eligibility back, which could mean possibly 2 full seasons in a GCU uniform.

Good pickup

Good pickup with an asterisk. Kid is super injury prone and thats why GCU gets him. He also has been recruited by Menzies since UNLV so Menzies finally gets his first recruit. He has had THREE major surgeries in his college career so hold your breath GCU fans.

This might explain why Milstead transferred. If Fisher is fully healthy, he will see a lot of playing time; if not start. It always seems like Majerle is following/chasing NMSU’s lead. For the first few years in the WAC, Majerle was recruiting to match NMSU’s size. Now, after struggling against NMSU’s depth at guard, Majerle is loading up with guards.

Although I think Menzies was brought in primarily for recruiting, I think an added benefit is Menzies dedication to defense and rebounding. While at NMSU, Menzies had our Aggies as the best rebounding and defensive team in the WAC. It could be argued that Weir was the defensive mastermind. The defensive intensity and rebounding hasn’t changed but only gotten better under Jans. But maybe GCU can close the gap (with better athletes).

Two nice guard transfer pickups for GCU. Are we seeing the Menzies effect?

Not sure about "the Menzies effect", but it is kind of funny that two players who passed on UNLV after Menzies was hired there (Carlos Johnson & Jaylen Fisher) will now play under him at GCU.

If a Roberts Blumbergs falls off the official GCU roster and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

So much hoopla for Blumbergs and now he’s history. The “Majerle effect”!

Finally heard something about Roberts Blumbergs. Looks like he’s gone pro in Latvia. Says he graduated from school... that may not be accurate? Also apparently the state took over GCU. We’re Grand Canyon State University in USA. Haha!

Blumbergs had potential. He has good agility for his size. And, pretty decent shooting skill; solid 3-point range. But for whatever reason he never had the right mental mindset to prosper at GCU. He played soft; not really embracing physical contact... a typical Euro big man.

So what in the hell happened to Carson Towt? Verbal Commits says he's already transferring from Cal Baptist?

RE: 2019 WAC off-season transfers... - NMSUPistolPete - 09-10-2019 10:14 AM

To date, Cal Baptist and Chicago State still haven't put out an official roster. Both must still be sorting out their respective scholarship situations. I think Carson Towt was slated to be a walk-on at CBU this season. Maybe he was expecting (hopefully for) a scholarship or maybe Croy felt he was good enough to play on his team?

I read he performed very well in Australia with the team. Weird that he's transferring already. I bet you 100 bucks he ends up at GCU.

What's up with the WAC this year? The season haven't even started and players are already transferring out... First Carson Towt transfers from Cal Baptist; now incoming freshman Trevon Allfrey is transferring from Seattle U.

If Pistol doesn't take you up on that bet, I'm your huckleberry. Easy money for me. COGSCOGSCOGS

According to Verbal Commits, Trevon Allfrey will remain in the WAC; transferring from Seattle U to Dixie State.
