Wake has been down recently but hosting a P5 is always a good thing. We signed a 4 year hime and home with them. This is either the 3rd or 4th year of that contract. When the AD ask you to have 16 to 17 home games you get 16 to 17 home games. When your budget is cut for buy games ...ypu go with what you can buy. But Western never played 3 D2 games under Harper..... Is there really that much difference playing a good D2 team or Alabama State? Till Todd started pimping out of football team (at a pay cut) for a home and home in basketball. The OOC home schedule are no better today than under Harper. Actually not as good even with two D2 games. I dont see any difference in strength of OOC home games under Coach Stansbury. I do see less home games. But I guess that's OK with Todd, now. I was sitting in the next room when Todd told Harper he expected no less than 16 homes games each year. Stansbury's home OOC Schedules 16-17 14 home games...5 OOC Alabama State Jacksonville State North Carolina A&T Ohio Austin Peay 17-18 16 home games...7 OOC EKU Nicholls State Indiana State d2 Missouri State Belmont Wright State 18-19 14 home games...5 home games Tennessee-Martin Tennessee State Troy Saint Mary's (CA) Wisconsin (15) (off of FB contract) 3 of Harpers 8 home games East Tennessee State North Carolina-Wilmington Samford Eastern Illinois Southern Mississippi (29-7) Murray State (23-11) D2 Mississippi ------------------------------------------------- 7 home games Austin Peay Belmont Bowling Green State Chicago State Louisville (4) d2 d2 ------------------------------------ 7 home games Stoney Brook being the best (ncaa team) 2 D2 games EKU Indiana State Alabama A&M Detroit Mercy RE: 2019 MBB non-conference - freshtop - 07-03-2019 12:52 PM I think some of those home games have been replaced with early season tournaments. I am okay with that as we get to play better competition on a neutral floor. You list the records of USM and Murray for Harper, but don't mention that Nicholls was 21-11 and Wright State was 25-10 in 17-18. Also, my tongue in cheek jab at Harper was mostly in reference to the D2 games, which he seemed to favor (maybe due to Todd forcing X number of home games). I like our overall SOS now vs. when Harper was coach. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/western-kentucky/ Our SOS was below average every season but one under Harper. Under Stansbury it was below average his first season (which is understandable given how time limited we were). Again, I don't know what type of restrictions were put on Harper. It was just a joke about scheduling D2 games. 2019 MBB non-conference - owl at the moon - 07-04-2019 07:37 AM (07-03-2019 08:40 AM)everyone Wrote:(06-29-2019 03:49 PM)owl at the moon Wrote: UNT, UTEP, LaTech and USM all are expected to soon confirm Rice for the 2020 OOC schedule. Ouch! But, William Marsh Rice is a taller midget than William Carey, and more importantly has better ball-handling skills. Speaking of Villanova, we are playing them in the first round of the Myrtle Beach Invitational. https://espnevents.com/myrtle-beach-invitational/bracket/ 2019 MBB non-conference - freshtop - 07-12-2019 10:18 AM Sounds like we will have OOC opportunities this year, just need to take advantage of them collectively. With the rework of the computer rankings, that means if you can't beat them at least keep it close. I assume you do realize that, if this is accurate, WKU's conference schedule will follow the exact same path as Marshall's other than for swapping travel partners? |
