CIT - goldenflash99 - 03-18-2019 06:55 AM

We will be playing in the 2019 CIT versus Louisiana-Monroe. We tip off Thursday at 8 p.m.

Will the guys take this as an opportunity to gain experience and extend the season or have we packed it in?

All I can tell you is as a fan I’ve packed it in. I imagine most players outside the NCAA have too. For the 60+ crowd on this site these tournaments remind me of the NFL’s Runner Up Bowl of the late 50’s early 60’s. While the two first place teams played in the NFL Championship the 2 second place teams played in this ridiculous game. At least they played it in a warm climate.

I hope y’all have packed it in! Lol. Seriously, looks like you guys have a nice team this year with some good wins. We are tough at home and have only lost two this year at home. We are very guard heavy with our best player being Daishon Smith, who is a transfer from Witchita St. We lost out 7 footer to Australian Football of all things and don’t have much size inside. We lead the SBC in 3 pointers and FT percentage and are top 5 in the country in FT percentage. I personally was hoping we drew Grambling who is right down the road and we already beat this year. Should be fun, but call me worried. Y’all seem to be a good team. See you Thursday. Expect a big crowd.

We don't guard the 3 point line.....at all. Could get ugly.

Not sure how the CIT bracket works, but it looks like FIU with Devon Andrews is in the CIT. It'd be fun to face them/him.

It is akin to the old NIT days. No bracket. They will match up teams after the each round based on a variety of factors (money).

If anyone can figure out the CIT, please let me know. First, there are several of the 13 first round games, but not all, that are called “Classics” and are named after famous old coaches. The winners of those games get a trophy and advance to the second round. Then it says that after the first round, the four top seeded teams (whoever they decide they are) get a bye to the quarterfinals. Fine. Except that there are 26 teams in round one=13 winners minus 4 teams getting a bye leaves 9 teams for round two? Somebody tell me how that works.

MAYBE THERE IS A WILD CARD TEAM OUT THERE FLOATING AROUND NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT ... The Canadian National Team??? ... The Puerto Rican Team ... that gets a bye to the quarters.

Then some team has to play at their place.

Now that would be interesting!!!

In the past they had 24 teams or 12 winners so four byes worked. My guess is they were able to get 26 this year so there probably are only 3 byes.

RE: CIT - roundball4me - 03-18-2019 10:23 AM

Just curious but how much did this cost us?

RE: CIT - fallsdog - 03-18-2019 11:56 AM

$32.99 + tax per player. But since Kent signed up before 11:00PM, the director of basketball operations and strength coach are free. [/align]

RE: CIT - Arrowhead - 03-18-2019 12:26 PM

I don’t think this game costs y’all anything. The money we pay pays for your travel, etc. we keep 100% of the gate. We are averaging over 3,300 a game and towards the end of the season were having crowds over 4,500. We made it to the CBI finals a few years back and had great crowds, so I think that is why we are ponying up the money. I think I read though you have to agree to host one of the first two rounds at $38,000 a game to be in the tourney. This tourney is med-major only and you have to have a winning record. CBI has P5 also, but has teams with losing records.
