Non-Rice CUSA Tourney Games - Tiki Owl - 03-13-2019 11:23 AM

Opening women’s game UNT vs SMiss (winner plays Rice). Neither team looks like they have played basketball before. 6-3 S Miss with a minute to go in 1Q. UNT was 0-13 before scoring.

[Women] North Texas leads 26-14 at the half.

Wouldn't mind seeing Southern Miss come back. Think they'd be a good fit for us. Struggling to defend P&R, no really good outside shooters.

RE: Non-Rice CUSA Tourney Games - dragon2owl - 03-13-2019 11:58 AM

[Women] ODU leads FAU 14-12 after one quarter.

Ran out of the office to go to East Hampton Sandwich Company at the Shops at Legacy. Of course, the entire UAB WBB team was in front of me in line... Took me a bit longer to get my food than I had hoped for..

[Women] North Texas survives Southern Miss's comeback. They win 49-46. Looks like Rice will have to beat North Texas a 3rd time this year.

RE: Non-Rice CUSA Tourney Games - dragon2owl - 03-13-2019 01:23 PM

[Women] ODU with an easy win over FAU, 63-32. They'll face WKU. Winner of ODU/WKU will meet winner of Rice/North Texas.

15-6 Charlotte after 1Q. La Tech really struggling and their top scorer Anthony has 0 points on one attempt.

RE: Non-Rice CUSA Tourney Games - Tiki Owl - 03-13-2019 02:21 PM

Aerosmith’s Dream On by the Charlotte band...nicely done.

RE: Non-Rice CUSA Tourney Games - Tiki Owl - 03-13-2019 02:28 PM

La Tech finds their game and Charlotte takes the Quarter off. 25-19 La Tech at the half.

RE: Non-Rice CUSA Tourney Games - dragon2owl - 03-13-2019 02:29 PM

[Women] Looks like all teams are struggling to score today (except for ODU in the 2nd half). At the half, LA Tech leads Charlotte, 25-19. Marshall leads UTEP, 10-7 after one.

Basketball games should absolutely never be played in football stadiums. It’s awful. The largest venue for a game should be the Toyota Center, or something like Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indy (probably the best large basketball stadium I’ve been in).

I know the Star isn’t the same as NRG but it is still configured like a football field.

From a fan’s perspective I like the setup. Being able to go between two games is good and it allows both men’s and women’s teams to play at the same arena.

40-32 La Tech after 3Q.

I'm curious if the bands send 2 bands, or try to get by with 1 band to cover both teams, hoping they play in different time slots.

??? Women and men don't play at the same time. Women play 11:00am - 4:00pm; men from 6:00pm - 11:00pm

How's the sound? Can you hear the bands/whistles/the 5 fans from the other game?

Fair enough. I've never paid attention to the different CUSA schedules to know who plays when, because I'll never have a chance to attend a game there. We can assume the band covers both (for travel cost reasons, too), but I was looking for someone in the know to say for certain, at least for the BOB.
