North Texas Poaches ODU's Staff for New LB Coach - Side Show Joe - 03-11-2019 08:38 PM

North Texas recently lost our LB coach to Ole Miss, and with Spring Practice set to start in a few days was in need of a quality coach and quick. It is now being reported that ODU's secondary coach Galen Scott will be joining the Mean Green staff. Scott was just recently hired by Wilder in January. Scott has severed as a Co-defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech, and spent 6 seasons coaching linebackers at Memphis. Here is the article from our local paper.

He was in line to take over for BUd Foster but cheated on his wife and it became public. We took a chance on him and he repaid us by spending a good 2 months on the staff :)

Seems like a good hire. Loyalty is not his specialty.

So, we stole the Grady Brown (former USM corners coach) from Ball State even though he was just hired there

Talk about some Days of our Lives stuff. Both hired in January. Both leave by March.

Like sands through the hour glass... he was coaching high school last year.

I don't think it is an issue of loyalty. I think his family situation and the pay raise was a big factor in his move to North Texas. If he leaves us before the end of the 2019 season, than UNT will have egg on our face. That is a small risk Littrell was willing to take in order to get a quality Bud Foster groomed defensive coach. This isn't an intramural league. We have to do everything under our control to field the best possible team we can.

I get it. I do wish coaches should be required to at least stay a year. I completely understand his decision though.
