2019 OFFENSE - thxjoenovak - 02-13-2019 01:56 PM

Tweet from Hammock:

Sitting in on offensive meetings I love the Vision @CoachEidsness has for the offense & where were are going. The buy in from the staff is phenomenal.
#BurnTheShips

Burn The Ships!

I read that as it’s a brand new “O” from the ground up. Love it! 02-13-banana

Burn the ships story is a good one. The Assistant HC for Kansas City FC told my son's soccer team that story a long time ago. Very motivating. The boys went out an won the tournament in Minnesota.

The new OC worked with an excellent tight end at South Dakota State and we have some excellent tight ends on this year's team and our QB could benefit from getting some easy completions so.........

Burn the ship? It'll work well against WMU and Minnesota, I guess...

RE: 2019 OFFENSE - klake87 - 02-13-2019 03:31 PM

You can have the best offensive mind, it still about the players executing the play. You need playmakers.

That’s why we must burn the ships. No going back to our old offense. Make it work with the new philosophy and existing players and no looking back no matter what.

I concur.

Excited to see who steps up at the TE position. I love me some TE-involved-in-the-passing-game Offense.

Dreams of Wimann (but with added athleticism) of a few years back in my head. In Chicagoland, there's gotta be dozens of mini-Gronkowski's all over the place.

We have that 6'7" tight end. He would be a nice target...if he can catch.

A preview of what we can expect?

I believe the saying originated with Cortez when he landed in Mexico. He had his men burn his ships, so that there was no option to retreat, he later when on to annihilate the Aztecs, not really motivating in my mind.

Any way today they saying is used to mean out with old ways...

Wow. We don’t have a tight end nearly as good as Goedert.

That might be true but the reverse is true also in that you can have no offensive mind and it doesn't matter what kinds of playmakers you have. We are certainly familiar with that from the past 3 years. What worries me about next season is that the playmakers have moved on, so it will take some great coaching to dig out of this, and recruit more talent also.

Thank you. I've been waiting since noon to post this (I can't log in at work because I can't remember my password and I just don't want to re-set my password).

I figured someone would know the reference.

This is not to be confused with "fire up the Chips". They like to say that at CMU.

Dallas Goddard footage has got me excited for next season.

This may need a thread of its own but I think it's appropriate here too.

When this 2019 Offense scores a TD...will there be a Howitzer blast accompanying it?

The Art of War has similar tactic. Leaders know when to use specific tactics.

The story was modified to have a better ending.
