I wonder how many of these people live in high tax states like California, or have large mortgage balances? Those are the only ways I could see these scenarios realistically happening.

Interesting. I hadn't realized they messed with the withholdings.

Lol

Did you read those?

So, some high school “civics” teacher got her students to make up a bunch of “I voted for Trump, but won’t next time” boiler plate Twitter posts.

Like, that’s like awesome, right?

Put down the glass, push away from the table, stand up, take a breath.

It’s gonna be a loooong 6 years for you otherwise 04-coffee

I haven't finished up the taxes yet so I'm still waiting on my final verdict. I tend to withdraw too much with my taxes during the year so I think we'll be about the same.

My wife's law firm is having a great year because she works in their tax department (she's an administrative member of that department, not a lawyer). Trust me, those folks are super busy. It sounds like hiring a tax lawyer is a very worthwhile investment these days for a company.

So confirmation

“there’s the reality that traditionally, about three-quarters of Americans receive tax refunds each year. It’s typically their largest single check annually. They plan consumer purchases, particularly durable goods and big-ticket items, around them.”

Confirmation that About three-quarters of Americans are either morons or simply poorly informed/educated.

Hunh. How could that have happen?

Who runs the schools? Would those be the same folks that run the tax scam?

If I was a cynic, which I’m not...

it's also the worst way to 'save' money....

at one time, I claimed '7' during the year to ensure my end result was 0$....

I made more money last year than the previous year. Paid in less to the state and got s bigger federal refund. I don’t itemize.

I'll never understand why getting a bigger refund is a good thing....

I stopped loaning at zero interest moons ago....

Well, one reason they may not have the disposable income is they are paying to much in taxes each pay check hence getting a large tax refund. Unfortunately, most are too ignorant to see the correlation between the two and just decide to complain.

Sorry, but one of the very first "tax literacy" posts describing how they are getting screwed is false. This is a fake bogus story.

The people who will be paying more in taxes will be those who own multiple million dollar homes, or who were paying extremely high state taxes to where the new DOUBLE standard deductions doesnt quite cover the difference. Those people need to take their tax issues up with their state.

Everyone I have spoken with are getting cuts. And they are SIGNIFICANT.

I'm certain I'll be smiling YUGELY in the 'sip....

I'm simply waiting on the paperwork to arrive....

it's disturbing how people don't understand inflated $$$ and how it burdens those that play the game fairly....

I have zero sympathy for those bastages....

It's not. But if you had it worked out where what you were withholding was about right, and they changed it without you knowing (this is the first I've heard of it), I could see how you could wind up owing money to the IRS and feel frustrated about it.

while I understand that sentiment, it's the richie riches that no longer have an out....

that's the beauty of the 'tax cut'....

it's the purest in irony pal....
