I have not seen the video and I do not want to. Just from the reports I know it would only further anger me. I do want to know when and where this occurred. If it is an old video from when he was a minor, maybe we can look at counseling and a suspension. But, if this was something that occurred since he has been a part of our team, than it would probably be best if we parted ways. If we are going to be a civil society, we cannot tolerate this type of conduct. I will not defend his actions, and I will be very interested to see what becomes of this investigation.

Was this out in the woods? Coon dogs are trained in similar ways. Growing up this wasn't uncommon. It teaches your dogs to I know what to go after.

very common in the 70s to catch a coon and use it to teach dogs to tree it and go after it. Not a hunter myself but went with my grandfather a number of times while growing up.
Today if a video of training dogs back then showed up on twitter or facebook. They probably wouldn't give a **** but those facebook and twitter folks would.

Yeah, business as usual to me. Some people don't understand the culture, coon hunting is legal. Little bastards are a huge nuisance too. This world we are living in where sea turtles and raccoons are more protected than human babies in the womb, is the twilight zone.

The dogs don't always win either. A big raccoon can tear a dog up, badly. And a raccoon will kill a puppy in your back yard if you have them around. They're like giant rats around here.

Yeah, there's a difference I'd say if he was legitimately training the dogs. And there's a better way to put an animal that's suffering down than beating it with a stick. Doesn't everybody in Texas have a gun? I'm not even big on guns and I have a couple.
