Blazers In This Year's Superbowl - CyberBlazer - 01-20-2019 07:14 PM

One, Darious Williams
Two if you include ex-Blazer Gerald Everett but I'm sure USA will rightfully lay claims to him

RE: Blazers In This Year's Superbowl - BlazerMatt - 01-20-2019 07:27 PM

It’s two. All of the 2014 players who got attacked by the BoT, Ray Watts, et all were Blazers then, now and ALWAYS.

I saw Everett make a catch today. Does Williams play much?

No. According to his stats, he has played in 1 game for the Rams and 3 games for the Raven

LA Rams GM played for UAB when we were a Dlll program

Does this mean that every UAB FBHC has had someone in some capacity in a Super Bowl?

Not sure where that question came from, but the best I can figure, we have had five players play in the Super Bowl: Josh Evans and Damion Sydney for the Titans in 2000, Joe Webb for the Panthers in 2016, and Darious Williams and Gerald Everett for the Rams in 2019.

Josh Evans played for Jim Hilyer (as did Rams GM Les Snead mentioned above). Joe Webb played for Watson Brown, then Neil Callaway. Darious Williams and Gerald Everett played only for Bill Clark. Williams transferred to UAB from a D-III school in Ohio, played in 2014, and then with #TheReturn in 2017. And Everett transferred from Hutchinson CC in Kansas and played in 2014. When we got shut down, he moved to South Alabama for two seasons before getting drafted by the Rams.

So, including Les Snead, the former UAB players associated with the Super Bowl have played for four of our five coaches (all but Garrick McGee).

So...who watched the game? 07-coffee305-hide

i got home about 8:20 last night & was surprised that the game was still early in the 4th quarter.

I watched the rest of it just for the heck of it.

RE: Blazers In This Year's Superbowl - LairDweller - 02-04-2019 08:46 AM

Was that last night?

RE: Blazers In This Year's Superbowl - BlazerGreen - 02-04-2019 09:21 AM

I watched it. The game was zzzzzzz.

My main takeaway from the night: Robots. I guess Corporate America is conditioning us for the coming AI "revolution". Hey, it doesn't matter that they're smarter, faster, and stronger. They'll never be able to drink a beer or eat a pringle so why worry?

There were more than a few snoozer games during the past football season, but expectations fueled by commercial hype always leave a fan wishing for a better game. It is after all, just a football game which may be just like so many others seen during the season. How many people find Christmas Day leaving them less than overjoyed after the hype leading up to it?

In the lead up to the game, I saw a local sportscast that was identifying Snead as an ex Auburn player. Is Les Snead ours, theirs, or can both claim him???

He played at Troy, and then UAB for one season, then tranferred to Auburn where he graduated and served two years as a grad assistant. So I guess we can all claim him.

RE: Blazers In This Year's Superbowl - the_blazerman - 02-07-2019 06:57 PM

Well, UAB is claiming him for their coaching clinic deal.

I saw Jerry Jones and Dabo Swinney are also listed as potential speakers.
