College Football Season Grades (NIU B-) - MileHighHuskie - 01-09-2019 11:51 AM

Interesting to look at all the grades. I think if NIU wins the late season games we would be A-. Bowl game trumped our MACC it seems.

Should've been a C. The A defense nullified by an F offense.

I guess with an 8-6 record a B- makes sense. They played a tough OOC schedule. Or a B if you put more weight just on the MACC.

A conference championship deserves more than a C.

So while he may be right on the B- in the sense that a stopped clock is right twice a day, my guess is that the writer of this piece thinks we are the NIU Huskys based somewhere in northern Iowa, and only saw the Sportscenter highlights of one game - either the MACC or the bowl - and dialed it in from there.

That is almost certainly correct.

Yep, makes sense....

This is the truth. It should haunt Huskie fans for awhile that a team with a defense as great as NIU was not associated with a top 25 team. That Utah game is a perfect encapsulation of the season, and a reminder of what could have/should have been.

You know NIU wasn't projected to win the MAC right? They actually overexceeded expectations by winning the West and later the conference. Utah ended up being ranked and won the PAC 12 South....

Exactly. It was just torturous to see NIU had the potential to be a top 25 team had the offense not been completely neglected.

The stupidity continues. We weren’t even the favorite in the MAC West, but, you suggest we had the potential to be top 25. That is completely irrational. To get in the top 25 we would have needed to go no worse than 11-1. With the non-conference schedule, that is just a ludicrous opinion.

+1. Not enough talent to be in the top 25.

The MAC media and MAC coaches picked NIU to win the west.

Point well taken, trying to respond to the insanity must have caused me to lose my mind. I will stand by my comments regarding this team being top 25 worthy. If that is the standard, be prepared to be consistently disappointed.

RE: College Football Season Grades (NIU B-) - NIUfrank - 01-10-2019 07:52 AM

We need a couple consecutive 11 win seasons to get top 25 consideration, and that wont happen with these tough OOC schedules.
