They beat Middle Tennessee (267) 83-76 on the road Thursday, but trailed 60-49 with 11 minutes remaining.
FIU plays a high tempo offense. They get a lot of possessions because they don’t hang onto the ball very long. They had 32 three-point attempts against MT. Their previous game to that, they put up 36 three-point attempts against Ohio. They love the three ball, but they don’t shoot it all that well (27.5%). Let’s hope the trend continues tonight.

Point Guard Brian Beard (#4 5-10 180 Sr.) had 28 points against MT two nights ago. He also had 7 assists and 2 steals. He was 5-13 from behind the arc. He is their top player. Beard goes to the foul line three times more than anybody else on the team. He averages 21.2 points per game.
Trejon Jacob (#3 6-5 175 Jr.) had 20 points against MT. He was 6-9 from behind the arc.
They often play “small ball” with their tallest player being 6-7. However, they do have a 6-11 center. Their second best player may be #10, Devon Andrews (6-6 190 Jr.) He shoots 61% in 2-pt attempts. He averages 14.8 points per game.

I just realized we are .500 or better against every team in CUSA 3.0.
Only teams we do not have a winning record over are UNT (4-4) and FIU (3-3). UTSA (3-2) and UTEP (10-9) are close though.

How did we do against the original CUSA group?? There were some pretty great teams in the league. Im betting our pal in Memphis will be able to give some stats etc on that in short order.
