The wall is just a metaphor. - cb4029 - 12-31-2018 04:42 PM

Quote:President Donald Trump’s often-touted “border wall” has recently been referred to as “beautiful steel slats” by the president, a “beaded curtain” by California Rep. Nancy Pelosi, “semantics” by White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, and “not a wall” by outgoing White House chief of staff John Kelly. Finally, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said on Sunday that the wall was nothing more than a “metaphor” for border security.

First it was going to be big and beautiful. Now it's just going to be invisible. 05-stirthepot

The clown show continues.

I like it, Invisible Fence, now all we have to do is get all the Latin Americans to put on the Shock Collars if the cross the border. 03-lmfao 05-stirthepot

No, Lindsay. Pretty sure acting presidents Ann & Laura are requiring a literal wall.

If Trump actually meant it as a methaphor, he'd have his funding

Beautiful steel slats w/ spikes.

Conway's point on semantics is about the dems will agree to fund border security and fencing, but not a wall. They know Trump is right, but they cannot allow him the political win because they hate him more than they love the USA and great border security.

Long story short, democrats hate America.

If Trump ran on dismantling existing border walls you Progs would be against it. Same for sending 10,000 troops to Syria, or increasing taxes. For 2019 resolution seek a professional for TDS.

I think those that very rarely post IN a discussion are parrots and are mental midgets. Not that there is anything wrong with midgets.

Build the freakin wall!!!

RE: The wall is just a metaphor. - Fort Bend Owl - 12-31-2018 07:42 PM

"The President is using the government shutdown to try to force an expensive and ineffective wall upon the American people, but Democrats have offered two bills which separate the arguments over the wall from the government shutdown," incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Monday in a statement.

House Democrats have it all under control. They will pass a series of bills to get the shutdown ended, without adding any new wall money.

Win-win. I'm sure all Americans will rejoice the end of the shutdown and thank the Democrats for working on a positive solution.

They won't pass the Senate.

And I'm told that bills that pass a GOP House and fail the Senate = GOP's fault.

So by that logic, bills that pass a dem house and fail in the Senate = dem's fault.

RE: The wall is just a metaphor. - Kronke - 12-31-2018 08:19 PM

dems can posture all they want, the schumer shutdown isn't ending until they learn to compromise and make a deal.

We've already come down from $25 billion to $5 billion, and from concrete to beautiful steel slats w/ spikes. You started at $0 and remain at $0. The fake media will only be able to do your bidding for so long. After a while, it becomes blatantly obvious who is negotiating in good faith and who isn't.

Play this on loop on the Senate floor.

Apparently Nancy and Chuckie don’t understand how a bill becomes law. If I’m Trump, the 2.5 million compromise deal is “going going gone” the day the Dems take over the house. It goes back to the full 25 billion.

On a serious note, the wall is bullshlt. Given a little bit of time, it will be very easy to avoid the wall. Mexican cartels have tunnels that go into the U.S. without having to navigate the border, and if enough money exchanges hands then those tunnels can be used for aiding illegal immigration. I agree with this video by Chuck Shumer. The Dems know that this is a long term untenable situation. Unfortunately for us, those with the deep pockets to lead politicians by the nose want to see illegal immigration continue. Therefore, we will continue to see illegal immigration. Until we make illegal immigrants look like the walking embodiment of the plague and ultimately people that legal U.S. citizens want to avoid - we'll see no progress on this.

Trump is confused. But....he may actually believe an invisible wall is plausible. Sort of like wonder woman's jet.

We need to start gassing the tunnels.

A wall is a deterrent (a 99.9% deterrent, if you look at Israel), not the entire solution. A wall prevents 50,000 hoard caravans from forming, because what is even the point.

Then you can employ the technology and human aspects to take on shite like tunnels.

RE: The wall is just a metaphor. - JDTulane - 01-01-2019 02:10 PM

Funny how a 35ft ladder beats out a 99.9% deterrent force.

Funny how ladders dont seem to work at the wall at El Paso.

RE: The wall is just a metaphor. - Kronke - 01-01-2019 02:16 PM

50,000 person hoards aren't going to form so they can all climb one (or a dozen!) 35 foot ladder(s).

The whole ladder argument is so cringe worthy.
