I'm thinking if the news is bad and they release it now it may impact on ticket sales?

No, it's because no one is working and even if they were, they aren't worried about announcing injuries.

Well if no one is working in our athletic department then that explains a lot. Welcome to Mid-major-ville.

Bc major programs dont take a break durimg the holidays?

They just have to sign their names to the exams that their tutors take.

Harry Minium wrote an article about Blake Larussa today. I expect he has an idea what Stith's injury has been diagonosed. It still seems only right an update would be appropriate. I don't think anyone expects an exact timeline on his return to practice but a simple update seems fair to expect.

RE: Stith Injury - Gilesfan - 12-26-2018 08:05 PM

I was told the entire athletic department is out right now. Who would Miller get the info
From? Maybe there are follow up doctors visits. The Larussa thing was known awhile ago and thus Harry may have had the article qued up already. Its likely minor bc no one is in a rush to find out info.

Unless it all a big scam to not let Marshall know hes out.

RE: Stith Injury - Prideofalion - 12-26-2018 08:29 PM

Y’all need to calm down. There’s no conspiracy. Jones said in the postgame that the entire team (coaches, players, trainers) was off for 4 days. Needed to report back to campus today and then 3 straight days of practice start on the 27th (tomorrow). Almost every program in the nation has a very similar schedule. If u want to know how he’s doing just call BJ on his cell and ask him... lol. Does anyone ever listen to the postgame?

RE: Stith Injury - MonarchManiac - 12-26-2018 09:44 PM

Yeah...some of yall are being ridiculous. You arent owed any information. Especially not over a holiday break.

Same take away I got from the postgame. Not a big concern. We don’t play for another week. The injury couldn’t have happened at a better time. And if he can’t go against Marshall and needs more time, then NEXT MAN UP!

Not worth the back and forth, we can agree to disagree.

If you are a PT then you should know this.

2. I have had the injury myself. When I> had to make the decision on whether or not to have reattachment surgery, I did a lot of research
and spent a lot of time talking to the orthopedist. Most people do in that situation.
If you are a PT then you should know this.

3. Others on here have opined pinched nerve, dislocated shoulder, shoulder bruise.
Why are you singling me out?

Because your's is the only one that's clearly unreasonable. If the training staff is doing their job, he doesn't reenter the game with significant connective tissue injury like a rupture or significant sprain. If you rupture a tendon as important and the bicep there is gonna be immediate strength loss and that's a massive red flag. The fact he reenters makes you think its a muscle strain. Pinched never is plausible but odd. Minor sprain plausible too but less likely they'd push the issue against Morgan State. This is all contingent on training staff doing their job, which I'm sure they did.

From looking at the replay the immediate loss of strength appears to be exactly what happened. That appeared to be the case when he reentered as well.

I reentered the game I was playing too. It wasn't until a couple of days later that the pain got worse, the bruising appeared, and I could no longer throw or swing the bat at all.

The fact is that no trainer, or even a doctor, can make an RPT diagnosis w/o an X-ray or and MRI.

Like I said it was a guess, like everyone else's on here.

This is inaccurate/false.

This is getting silly. I am not a doctor, but i am repeating what both my doctor, and my orthopedic surgeon said when they strongly suspected that I had that injury.
Tests called the Hook test or a Ludington test are strong indicator, but since the popeye muscle and bruising are not usually immediate, only an MRI (not even an Xray) can tell you for sure at the time. Can a trainer even do these? I am not sure

Since you are apparently a doctor, please explain how that diagnosis can be made at the time of the injury otherwise.

I did not mean in imply that I was referring to your personal injury. I was highlighting your assertion that the medical staff could not make RTP decisions without Xray/MRI/etc., which does happen all of the time.

It wasn't a diagnosis, it was a guess, along with many others, and I said as much.

If it was dislocated and popped back in he wouldn’t have gone back in the game. That’s was a good sign. I tried to read Stith talking to jones lips couldn’t make it out. I’m thinking strained, or stinger, and 12 days should be ok.

I knew it wasn’t to bad when he came back out. Stingers can take a awhile to recover. Analysis by paralysis here.........

Full steam ahead Monarchs, we need to take down Marshall and Western in a sold out Ted.
Go Blue..

Yes, indeed! The Ted/Monarch Nation need to turn out for our newest rivals with the same passion as vcu. These games are critical. Plus, we are undefeated so far at home - DEFEND THE TED!!!

RE: Stith Injury - FearTheLion - 12-28-2018 09:26 AM

After losing 3 to Western last year (essentially knocking us out of NCAA tournament contention), the fans and team should lack no motivation.

Go Monarchs.
