I get the ties, but IMO he is making a huge mistake. He is in a great situation at Purdue with his first year success, the division they are in and with how well he is recruiting. They were going to end up with the Top class in that Western Division.

Yep. This one really scares me.

Paul Johnson "retires" at Georgia Tech.

Scott Satterfield on the clock...

Fickell is only leaving us for his forever job IMO. Is Purdue what he envisions as his forever job? I doubt it, but I guess it is a cause for at least slight concern.

He isn't going to Purdue. They have the same basic issues we have. Michigan State is the real concern, for this off-season.

Marcus Freeman and Fickell seem like they are pretty close. If I remember correctly Freeman left his job as DC at Purdue to coach here with Fickell. I doubt Freeman is interested in going back. Don't you think he is in Fick's ear saying "you don't want that job".

Freeman was essentially out of a Job at Purdue as Darrell Hazell was fired mid season. I think the Purdue fans liked Freeman, but he was likely not going to be part of their future coach's (Brohm) staff. I do agree that Fickell and co should want to stay away from that job. If the Big 10 is his dream then a better one than Purdue will be available in the next couple years.

I truly hope you're right. I'd hate to lose Fick. Purdue scares me much more than U of L though just because of "fit".

Would Fickell ever coach in Ann Arbor? Imagining Harbaugh's seat will get warm next season after the annual loss to OSU. That one would create some dissonance for the Buckeye faithful.

Just don't see Luke and family situated in West Lafayette. But we've seen stranger moves so who really knows. I still believe his longer term commitment to UC will be contingent upon a substantial upgrade in AAC TV revenues in '19 and/or UC moving to the P5 in some reasonable time frame, either of which would allow Fickell and his assistants to earn more.

Sounds like Jake Spavital, OC at WVU, could be the next HC at Texas State.

Also, I've seen Derrick Mason (Vandy) smoke in regards to the Colorado job.

Maybe Purdue would be a quicker rebuild for Mason?

Can you rebuild something that was never built?

and the latest from our friends in Louisville....

http://footballscoop.com/news/update-louisvilles-pursuit-jeff-brohm/

In further conversations with sources, Brohm’s camp requested a salary north of $5 million, while Louisville AD Vince Tyra wanted to keep the figure closer to $4 million.

Ousted Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino made just shy of $4 million in 2018 and is now owed eight figures in buyout money.

While Louisville does owe hefty buyout figures to Petrino as well as former AD Tom Jurich and basketball coach Rick Pitino, sources told FootballScoop the University of Louisville Athletic Association has the money to meet Brohm’s asking price and wants Tyra to close the deal.

Amid reports that a final resolution is expected today, sources say disagreements about Brohm’s possible salary is what has drawn the process out this far. With Brohm’s decision still up in the air, sources said Louisville has further meetings planned for tonight with the goal of getting the former Cardinals quarterback back in black and red.

Out of the cellar, bowl eligible in the B10 with a beatdown of Ohio State just weeks ago. I'd say that's a pretty solid rebuild (in progress) in the minds of most athletic directors seeking a turnaround.
