Melo is garbage and would scoff at the notion of coming to Memphis.

Can't think of a player who makes less sense for the Grizz than Melo. Melo can't play the 3 anymore, and we are full of 4's, . Melo is a ball stopper, we want the ball to move. Melo is maybe the worst defensive playing big man in the league right now, as soon as he gets on the floor, other teams immediately try to iso him. And the whole point of the Grizz this year is to play D. And, Melo doesn't seem to understand his current status and value, thinks he is something he hasn't been for a few years.

Here is my thing on Melo. If, and it's a big if, the Grizz could talk him into coming in and being one of the first guys off the bench then why not.

They have enough defensive guys to hide him on that end. Once the bench guys come in Grizz really lose the consistent scoring punch of Mike and Marc.

Marshon has been super inconsistent. Selden the same. Parsons isn't going to contribute. Not sure how Dillon will be when he comes back.

Grizz need some guy who can take some of the scoring load off of Mike and Marc or GnG 2.0 is going to end up like GnG 1.0.

I say all of that to say this Melo wouldn't come off the bench so it would be a no, but if he would be willing to then why not what's it going to hurt. If it doesn't work then you don't have to play him and you can keep things the way they are.

I just know Noah doesn't help where they need help. Melo possibly could

No thanks to either. Let's just get DBrooks back and roll with who we got.

Thing is how is Brooks going to be after the knee injury? If he can't be the same guy then they are going to have to get someone.

Noah isn't that guy though.

RE: Grizz Pursuing Joakim Noah per Marc Stein - Tigx - 11-20-2018 01:12 PM

Re Noah, forget last year. Noah's was Phil's guy. Knicks nation hated Phil. Noah and Hornacek got into it, story said Hornacek shoved Noah first. Knicks told Noah to go home, they were tanking and going young. Noah only played 40 minutes all year.

The year prior, Joakim averaged 8.8 rebounds in only 22 minutes per game. Also had a 105 D Rating, which is excellent. He plays ridiculously hard, which is probably why his body was so beat up at age 31.

Grizz are going to pick up a veteran, back-up center. Marc isn't going to play 35 mpg for 82 games in his age 34 year. Last year, we got rid of vets like Brandon Wright and Ennis. This year we are making a playoff run, so we will acquire veterans. Noah seems like a good pick up for the role he will play.

Noah would get a pro-rated vet minimum. Knicks are paying him this year. If he gets hurt, Grizz cut him and move on. Just like they did when Chalmers got hurt.

Defense number and rebounds are great, but where is the offense going to come from?

Kind of have to score to win. Grizz can't continue to count on Mike and Marc to be the bulk of the scoring. They have to find a legit 3rd consistent scoring option.

Everyone talked about it could be Marshon or Selden that hasn't been the case so far. Still early but so far it hasn't been the case.

But the Noah move has nothing to do with that. Grizz will add a backup center sometime this season if they are in the playoff hunt. What backup center is out there who is a big scoring threat?

And they will almost certainly make other moves to address the wing scoring.

Continue to develop Rabb. Play positionless basketball in the post. Marc is going to play 30 to 32 mins that's just going to happen even though he shouldn't, but it's going to happen with or without Noah.

So go and get a wing player that will provide some scoring. If there's none out there then yea go get a backup center, but right now wing production is a major weakness.

Rebounding should get better now with Green back.

RE: Grizz Pursuing Joakim Noah per Marc Stein - Tigx - 11-20-2018 03:05 PM

JB and the FO appear to have made the decision that Rabb is not ready to be a backup center on a playoff team.

This move is not that big a deal. Knicks cut him, so Grizz don't have to pay a lot of money or give up assets to sign him.

It's a big deal when there are, at the moment, bigger needs.

JJJ will be the 3rd legit consistent scoring option by mid season.

Maybe he will maybe he won't. Can't rely on that happening. His foul issue, though he's getting better, keeps him from being that consistent 3rd scoring option.
