2 things:
1. Typical Larry Teis fashion: Keep him on after getting blown out last week against App. This week? We play another really good team, play a great defensive game (but look absolutely lost on defense), so let's get rid of him!
2. No congratulations for us. As long as Teis is in charge, I have ZERO faith in him to either get it right, or fix all the other woes that Larry has brought down on us.

I would wager this caught many as a surprise. Given that Larry is notorious for not wanting to pay buy out money, his modus operandi has been to traditionally let the contracts simply run out.
Most of the fanbase had already resigned ourselves to the notion that withers would be here this and next season.

. . . and maybe this is Larry’s effort to take attention/heat off himself.
Maybe all that “Fire Teis” stuff was getting to him. Don’t know that that was his motivation, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Oh 100% agree. Sadly, Larry thinks the #FireTeis stuff is all about the football team. So now he will say "I did what you wanted, and you are still pissed at me! You'll never be happy!"
Have no proof to support that other than my own interactions with Teis and getting a feeling of how he operates, though.

Congratulations Tx State! Reminds me of the problems we had NT. And it all started with a terrible AD hire made 15 years prior to him being replaced two years ago. Bad football coaches were hired by the guy, and terrible hires in men’s basketball, women’s basketball, softball, and several other sports. Other than a couple of bowl wins in football, the bad hires produced bad results.
A new Athletic Director that seems to know what he is doing is seemingly turning things around at North Texas.
Hope you guys make a good football hire but I sure hope the university puts your AD under the microscope. Good luck.

I don’t need the “next guy” to be a high profile Big Name. Just let him be someone who knows WTF he’s doing.
Let him be driven by a need to put a Winner on the field . . . Yesterday.
And let him be someone who won’t put up with Larry’s crap, if/when Larry proves to be an impediment to progress.
Our Athletes deserve it.
Our Fan Base deserves it.
Our University deserves it.

Graham Harrell would be on my interview list. Texas guy working in state and his choices would be go up the ladder as an OC or become a head coach. Would be affordable and can win the press conference.
