Tek is at 4-5 and.. - ODU True Blue - 11-12-2018 01:15 PM

Currently in negotiations with Marshall for a game December 1.

Both schools had games cancelled due to Florence. Tek might need that 12th game to become bowl eligible to keep their bowl streak alive. Currently at 25 straight.

I hope they sign a guarantee for lots of money to Marshall. Then crap the bed against Miami this week and UVA next week to lock them out of a bowl game. Then still have to play and pay Marshall.

Marshall should hold out for a home game or at least a neutral site game. They might be able to beat VT too.

Chances are nil unless Tech manages to add a game for the one that was cancelled.

That's what I mean. If they're sitting at 5-6 do you think they'd add the game and try to get into another bowl and keep the streak alive? Even then you'd think they'd pick up one of the schools they would most likely have a chance of beating... crazier things have happened 03-wink

All 6 of Virginia Tech’s losses have been by double digits:
By 14 to ODU
By 22 to Notre Dame who more than likely is a CFP team
By 21 to Georgia Tech
By 10 to Boston College
By 30 to Pitt
By 24 to Miami

Tough times in Blacksburg. They could potentially have lost to a G5 team, snapped their Commonwealth Cup streak, and get shut out of a bowl game invitation all in the same season. That is nightmare level stuff for VT’s program, fans, and alumni.

Read in the Richmond Times it said if VT beats UVA they will play Marshall at home with a kickoff time set for noon if they lose to UVA they will not play Marshall.

Think about it. Seems like a bad precedence to allow a game to be scheduled after the season starts. What's next? Seems very NASCAR'ish. Obviously it's all about the $.

I'm torn. I grew up a Hokie fan and will always have love for VT and serious dislike for UVA (seeing them lose to UMBC last year gave me great pleasure), but I think it would be hilarious seeing them lose and lose a lot that they boast about. The commonwealth cup, their bowl streak, etc. I enjoy watching them play and will always follow the program even if it's from a distance, but I think they need some humbling after being up on a pedestal for a long time.

And as a poster said, I'm also glad we were the start of their downfall 04-cheers

If VT continues to be down, its going to give in state recruits something to think about during recruiting. Before if you were a 3 or 4 star from VA, it was a no brainer that you would choose VT (5*s could go anywhere in the country and had more national programs to choose from, Bama, Ohio St, FSU etc.) But now if Tech is down it could give ODU and UVA help in recruiting. Of course ODU has work to do on the field and finishing the stadium but it could be a step in the right direction.
