NFL: Nick Mullens starting for the 49ers tonight - Saint Greg - 11-01-2018 04:25 PM
Adam Schefter reports that the 49ers will start Nick Mullens at quarterback for Thursday's game against the Raiders and have C.J. Beathard serve as his backup.

Thanks for the info. Hope he does well. Will be an interesting evening, as we have Jalen Richard on the Raiders also.

Titans released Davis a couple weeks ago. They just had him while their backup was in concussion protocol.

Hopefully we'll see some Mullens to Trent Taylor hookups. We have Justin Ellis on the Raiders but he's been out since week 1 and just started practicing this week so I don't think he'll be active yet.

As well SF has former Golden Eagles DB Tarvarius Moore as a backup to Richard Sherman. Doubtful you’ll hear or see Moore but still good when we’ve got 3 players on active rosters in today’s game with 2 of the 3 expected to get solid reps.

Fans....I can remember some of our knucklehead fans complaining about Mullens not being a D1 QB. Luv a good told you so...

He has hit Richie James a couple times tonight too, tried to hit him for a TD a moment ago but James started running before he caught the ball. Mullens is lighting it up!

Unfortunately the media will expound in how bad the Raiders are and limit their praise on Mullens performance no matter how well Nick does.

The Raiders are in disarray, so are the Giants(SF's next opponent) and to a lesser extent so are the Bucs who they see two weeks later after their bye week.
He had no reason to believe he'd do more than hold a clipboard a month or two ago, if he can get off to a 3-0 start(or hell even 2-1), I can't imagine he'll care what the talking heads are saying.

Congrats to Nick. I couldn’t be prouder of a Southern Miss athlete than I am of him. He worked hard for this opportunity and took advantage of it.
