Memory Lane: The WMU Mention on Saturday Night Live - Motown Bronco - 10-18-2018 10:27 AM Not sure how many of you remember this. SNL episode in 2005, where Maya Rudolph's character (drunk sorority girl) announced she was from Western Michigan University in a skit. About the 3:00 minute mark. Woo! The Musical RE: Memory Lane: The WMU Mention on Saturday Night Live - Bronc33 - 10-18-2018 02:34 PM Many of the SNL cast members around that time were UM alumni, so I'm sure that had something to do with that. RE: Memory Lane: The WMU Mention on Saturday Night Live - MajorHoople - 10-18-2018 03:18 PM Will Farrell wore a Scarlet and Gray sweatshirt (Ohio State colors) but claimed to be from Ohio U. on a couple SNL skits. RE: Memory Lane: The WMU Mention on Saturday Night Live - MajorHoople - 10-18-2018 03:55 PM Yeah, but no Brown and Gold in the skit. I question that too. (10-18-2018 03:18 PM)MajorHoople Wrote: Will Farrell wore a Scarlet and Gray sweatshirt (Ohio State colors) but claimed to be from Ohio U. on a couple SNL skits. Cool. Looks like he actually went to USC. RE: Memory Lane: The WMU Mention on Saturday Night Live - MajorHoople - 10-18-2018 04:19 PM In fact none of the 2005 cast members had any attachment to U-M. Will Farrell did go to USC, started out as a Sports Information wannabe. I can't because it turns out I was wrong. I could have sworn I heard that but research shows that I'm way off. That's what I get believing u of M people. RE: Memory Lane: The WMU Mention on Saturday Night Live - Motown Bronco - 10-18-2018 06:49 PM At the time, I thought maybe a writer was either a WMU grad name-dropping, or a CMU grad poking us (given the "character" being portrayed). But most likely, they just wanted a random school from 'flyover' country and we just happened to be picked. |
