I think App would need to win all remaining games by 2 TDs (switched I'd be pleasantly surprised by) and UCF loses twice. I don't see that happening based upon their schedule. UCF makes the game somewhat due to the hangover from a great season last year.

Remember it doesn't matter what UCF does if they lose their conference title game. I'd argue that if Houston, SMU, Tulane, or Navy wins the west (assuming Memphis and Tulsa are out already with 3 conference losses) AND wins the AAC title game, App would have a good shot against any of those teams (Houston may need 1 more loss for that to be true since they would have some nice wins in this scenario).

We need to let the top two rated G5 champs play for the Access Bowl. The weekend after the conference championships when the Heisman presentation is given would be perfect. The FCS playoffs have historically had their highest rated games on that weekend...lots of people watching and no other major conference games to compete with.
The AAC might be the best G5 league, but they're overrated. They have a losing record against the rest of the G5 since bowls season last year. Their reputation is propped up by beating lots of mediocre and bad Power 5 teams.

I'm thinking best case is a national ranking and an invite to a bowl vs. a P5... maybe between Christmas and New Year's. That would be a big deal too. As I've said before: next two weeks are key to all of this... then the season ending game with Troy... oh, and a potential championship game. A lot of football to play, but we can dream of the potential, and with this AppState team, its possible.

I could pull for them without being sick.
1. Everyone else gets a nice check (not life-changing, but still a nice chunk).
2. It's a step towards improving the perception of the conference (I say step because someone is always going to pop in and say "nuh uh, it really only helps App state").
3. It would ensure Scott Satterfield's days are numbered.
4. App State is being coached by a guy who is a common denominator between their best in years in the FCS and a very good start in FBS. It would be good for them to get to reach the top while you still have that coach like that because they don't come around often.
And I might catch hell for that last one, but it's true. At one time our fans kinda took for granted that you're always going to have an Erk Russell or Paul Johnson running the show, but it's just not true. Cherish these seasons while you have them...
