UCF needs to win for AAC as a conference ? - TIGERBUDDY - 10-12-2018 06:42 AM

04-jawdrop I read an article this morning on the merits of UCF winning and going undefeated for the good of the conference and all of the schools. Stated how national publicity would be enhanced and bring more attention for the AAC along with better TV contract and more money for each school member. Our commissioner even said it would help. WELL I SAY BS ON THEM !!!! I hope the refs that are calling the game have no SPECIAL instructions from anyone on how to call the game. If we see no-calls and highly disputed calls against us then we can probably assume that the fix is in. I can't believe that the article would be published the day before the big game. It stated that everyone connected to the conference other than Tiger Fans should hope UCF wins.

Thanks.

I have no issue with Giannotto's column. He's 100% spot on from a conference point of view. If the roles were reversed - if Memphis was undefeated and ranked #9 - this column would've been written by an Orlando columnist saying the same thing about UCF.

F*&k UCF!

You can't spell F*&K without UCF.

In a way, we are in a no lose situation regardless of the game outcome.

In another, more real way, we are in a win or lose situation.

I don't know about that.

If we win, we still have a chance at the AAC-West title and spot in the conference championship game. Lose and we are eliminated.

While a New Year's bowl ain't happening, an AAC title is still very much in play for Memphis. Can't say there's nothing to lose, but ALL the pressure is on UCF.

Having at least one "high-level" team in your conference used to be a way to get a seat at the table when bowl season came around. The Big East was able to get a place in the New Year's Day bowl selection process because of Miami back in the '90's.

Unfortunately, in the past 10 or so years, that has all changed. Now, having a high-level team in your conference only increases the likelyhood that your league will be poached by one of the power 5 leagues.

Yes, in the short term, a UCF win, and another New Year's Day bowl will get the AAC more $'s, and may help with our new TV deal. But, the long-term result will likely be instability for the AAC.

A normal Memphis FB beat writer would not have published that story this week. But this is a die hard Michigan fan who Tweet photos this season of himself tailgating at a Michigan game. Rubbed me the wrong way.

I get that, but this is also the week that Memphis is playing the #9 ranked team in the country...which also happens to be the best team in our conference. When would've been a more appropriate time for the beat writer to post the column?

Memphis beats UCF...AAC haters go wild...USF quietly goes undefeated. lulz

RE: UCF needs to win for AAC as a conference ? - rc0213 - 10-12-2018 02:24 PM

Forget UCF and AAC. If Memphis isn't in to win every football game, then, I don't want to watch college football again.

UCF going undefeated again only helps UCF. TCU and Utah being great in the MWC sure as hell didnt help Wyoming or Colorado St in the long run. It helped Utah and TCU.

Agreed with the way we screwed the pooch against Navy and Tulane winning has very little benefit...We likely aren't going to a great bowl even if we win out.

I'd rather not drop to 1-3 in conference.
