Weird Facts
Winsipedia list the series record as ECU leading 4-3-1.

Both ECU and ODU list the record as ECU leading 1-0. The ODU 2018 Media Information counts its history beginning in 2009, referring to it's "first 10 years" (page 160). The same document says, "The first ODU football team played in 1930, when Old Dominion was known as the Norfolk Division of William and Mary" (page 159). East Carolina played the Norfolk Division of William and Mary annually from 1934-1940.

So ECU and ODU have either played once or eight times. Either way, we have a 1 game lead.

That’s fascinating. So until 2013 the record was even. I remember that game being fairly close until later in the game when we had some turnovers you guys capitalized on, I’m just going off memory so could be wrong. The thing I do remember is Heinicke’s name tag on the back of his jersey coming halfway off from your defense coming after him but he was slippery.

It’s nice that I’m looking forward to the game, a week ago I was feeling like i was watching out of obligation. Cheers to an injury free game 04-cheers It seems both teams need this win as a momentum builder and to keep hopes alive of a decent season.

Who the hell knows, but I hope it's a fun game and I hope we get a long term series with you. We were supposed to be rivals! And you will forever be the closest FBS football team to us. I think the home team wins this game, but wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised.

Eh was kind of close for 3 quarters. No turnovers just punts.

1 turnover. The beginning of the third Heinicke fumbled a ECU scooped and scored. I do remember that, though I was thinking it was a bit later in the game. That kinda turned the tides on us. 1st half was back and forth with ECU going up by a few before the half. 3rd quarter we stayed within striking distance and went down by two scores in the 4th

I wonder which ECU and which ODU will show up... nothing will surprise me.

No ECU just had a much deeper team full of FBS athletes and ODU still did not have a full allotment of scholarships that’s why they pulled away.

What do you mean no? That’s exactly what the box score suggests.

I don’t disagree with you that ECU had a deeper team but when you’re playing better competition turnovers, especially when they’re run in for 6 are killers to your chance to win.

It was one fumble. It’s not like ODU was just handing the ball over to ECU. ECU going up by 3 touchdowns was not solely because ODU fumbled the ball.

I like the ODU vs ECU game. If we had been stuck in CUSA it would have likely been one of the top games of the year when NCSU and UNC weren't coming to town.

RE: ***Official ODU @ ECU Game Thread*** - PirateJim - 09-28-2018 02:25 PM

Last game, I believe, when teams were coming out of the tunnel some ODU players ran into the endzone in front of the boneyard where many ECU players run to. Resulted in some pushing and shoving before the game started. Will ODU do that again?

I forgot about that. Wilder lined up the whole team in the end zone where ECUs team runs out to every game. Was very bizarre.

By this game has been low key. Lots of hype last time we later there cause it was our first ever fbs game. But does look way less than expected for kickoff.

Did we run into your entire team during entrances this time? :)

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Very depressing. I was thinking we would have atleast 35K. Doesn't look like ODU brought a lot of fans either.

Band can use the tickets that are given to ODU to sell in their section I believe.

I don't know what the deal is with ECU and other school marching band. They dropped the ball with A&T's band as well.
