Trump To U.N.: We Choose “Independence” Over “Global Governance”… - usmbacker - 09-25-2018 05:20 PM

Dems recoil in horror.

Quote:President Donald Trump spoke about globalism and national sovereignty in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, telling the body that “America will always choose independence and cooperation over global governance, control and domination.”

“I honor the right of every nation in this room to pursue its own customs, beliefs and traditions. The United States will not tell you how to live, work or worship. We only ask that you honor our sovereignty in return,” Trump said.

The president added that Americans “reject the ideology of globalism and accept the ideology of patriotism.”

I am so glad we have a man in the White House that will say that to the world. I had really convinced myself when Obama won in 2012 that we were too far down the road to turn back. If Hillary had won we would be racing toward socialism unabated.

In 2014 my wife and I actually started looking at island properties and started planning a retirement out of the country. Feel much better about the long term now.

Curious how the left will spin that since they've raged against American Exceptionalism for so long. They raged that 'We dont have the right to tell brown people to live'... I wonder if because Trump said it... they'll flip and demand that we try to control the world.

They seem on a mission to claim that everything he does and says is bad.

He's no orator but his words are stirring.

Barry could read a teleprompter and was considered a great orator. Of course, when it came to actually getting things done, everything he touched turned to shtt. But hey, the world "liked him"!!

One of the greatest orators of our age is also currently the most reviled man in history.

One of the worst speech of all times. Our forefathers have not turned our backs on our friends and allies like Trump is doing. We always had a global trading since the first day we became a country. He is too stupid to understand our history. We are together as a whole to stop the next rise of evil after Hitler. Right now, we need to stick together to stop the next rise of evil, and I am not talking about ISIS. It is Russia and China with their proxy states like North Korea, Iran and Syria. We also have to stop evil in Saudi Arabia who is funneling money to Sunni terror groups like ISIS and bin Laden's group.

Isn't it nice to hear a President not apologizing for America every time he speaks to the rest of the world.

Trump is just putting the rest of the world on notice that being our friend doesn't mean being their doormat.

Many of our so called friends have taken advantage of that friendship.

Unfair trade dealings
Taking our $$ in the form of "foreign aid" only to actively go against OUR interests
Having us pay the lion's share of NATO only to turn around and cut energy deals with those who NATO protects them from (Germany/Russia)

It's about time that an American President goes to the UN and preaches American exceptionalism instead of kowtowing and apologizing.

Lord help. We haven't moved one soldier off one base, and we certainly could afford some cutbacks in some areas. Trump has no intention of returning to Isolationism. He's just making sure these other nations know that when the US foots the bill, and we always do, we call the shots.

Lol, I guess the talking points are out. Trump isn't turning his back on anyone. He hit Russia with more sanctions after the British poisoning incident. He hit Syria after it poisoned its own people. Makes sense to me for Trump to expect reciprocal treatment if the world expects us to be its protector and economic engine. Fair trade deals should be the norm, not the exception.

Demanding your buddies chip in with beer and pizza money is hardly turning one's back on them. Nor is saying "Hey we know you guys had it pretty bad after your neighbor burned your house down 70 years ago, but now that you've been back on your feet for 50 years we're gonna stop overpaying for your goods while giving you a massive discount.

I don't understand liberals. Seriously.

Since at least the mid-70s they've demanded the USA stop interfering in global affairs. But when Trump says "OK, we out" the liberals go apeshite that the USA is going to stop interfering global affairs.

Trying to respond to Davey boy is a waste. That superior Arkansas education is just too much for us mere mortals.

It's just because it's Trump. How else do you explain it when he does exactly what they've wanted and they STILL complain?

FTFY, all politics, no ethics.

In some alternate universe everything we know and see today is exactly the same except for one thing: Trump ran and won the Presidency as a Democrat.

I'd watch that movie.
