Hard to tell if this collection of schools is a top 5 or simply schools he’s been hearing from recently. All of the schools, except for Brown, offered him last spring/summer and he visited some of them last year as well.

According to his InstaStory Saxby Sunderland visited Iona this weekend.

I can't see any reason why Jack should not be an important part of our rotation next year. I am certainly choosing my words carefully here and am only suggesting that his skill set suggests that he, at the very least, should be as good as anyone that we had in this year's rotation.

It would be nice if he is mature enough to slide right into that Brandon Carroll slot as an athletic forward that can, jump, and hit the open jumper.

Coach Boatner has started following 6’4 Deshawn Goodwyn of Richmond, VA (George Wythe HS, VA Havoc). Goodwyn holds offers from Emory & Henry and Virginia Union. Looks like a shooter; he averaged 24.3 points and five 3-pointers per game and is a McDonald’s All-American nominee.

I don't follow recruiting/HS players closely at ALL.

But this has a similar feel to the Polish Hammer... how does a "McDonald's All-American nominee" only have offers from Emory & Henry and Virginia Union? Is that "nominee" not much of a distinction or am I missing something here?

RE: 2022 MBB Recruiting - Tribeheart - 03-14-2022 03:42 PM

He didn't play AAU this past summer (concussion) and lost all of last season with Covid. George Wythe was my HS for first couple of years a long time ago, and gets lost in the shuffle these days, as it's very under resourced. All of his previously available footage online was from two years ago and only demonstrates his 3 point shooting. Hard to know about the rest of his skills.

Regarding being a McDonald's nominee, anyone can be nominated and be officially recognized as a nominee, as long as they meet certain criteria, none of which relates to actual talent.

That being said, only two boys were nominated in the Richmond area. The other nominee is a 4 star, Top 100, 4A State POY leader, and VCU commit. Only 21 were nominated in VA, including Saxby Sunderland.

More recent footage:

One other player who worked his way up the hard way from George Wythe and had similar 6'5" length....Paul Pressey...kinda revolutionized the forward/point guard game.

Jack Karasinski with a 16 pt 12 reb double double as GRCC continues to advance in the playoffs. Karasinski dunk clip in the link.

Telling to me is that a member of our staff is looking at a 2022 kid. It appeared we were all eyes on 2023 & transfers. Curious if we offer.

Hard to evaluate where he is at game wise. No doubt he is a fantastic shooter. To my eyes, with limited sample size, he seems skilled but not overly quick or athletic. I wouldn't have a problem offering him and, by that article, he seems like a high achiever W&M type kid. I think his floor is a taller Ayesa type shooting specialist. If he can display versatility and develops, he has the ceiling to be a Daniel Dixon. On a team hurting for consistent perimeter shooting, that may be enough to want to bring him in. If he shows that he can defend or effect the stat sheet in other categories, he becomes far more valuable.

Coach Howland has started following 6’10 Luke Northweather of Wardsville, MO. Luke’s older brother Eric, a 6’10 transfer from Truman St with three years of eligibility left, followed Howland back last night.

Welcome Chase!

6'5 guard. Offers from Army, Navy, & Elon according to verbal commits. He's absolutely not a walk-on. Averaged 17 ppg / 8 rebs. All he does is influence games and win.

Sounds like one of the more accomplished high school players in North Carolina. He was player of the year in his district and the top player on his team that finished 31-0. State champ and finished 13th in the country in the final national rankings. His high school career ended on a 49 game winning streak.
"At a strong, fluid 6-foot-5, he can typically be found running the team as the primary creator. The lefty is brilliant at utilizing his intelligence to outthink and outmaneuver the opposition. Lowe is an incredible passer with the ability to access unreal angles and pinpoint teammates while under duress. He’s a quality athlete but doesn’t necessarily rely on explosiveness to make plays. Lowe legitimately defends four positions comfortably, and should likely still be able to toggle between three or so at the Division I level. His blend of size, instincts, and versatility makes him an elite piece defensively. He rebounds the ball at a high volume, consistently forces turnovers with ease, and applies nonstop offensive pressure in transition. Lowe finishes pretty much everything at the rim, regardless of contact. "
