JMU to CAA 2018 versus 2017 - Dukester - 09-16-2018 10:35 AM

With the bulk of OOC play complete for the CAA, we now have the ability to get a better take of this year's CAA.

Verdict - JMU 10 points better than any other CAA school again.

My take on the teams left on our schedule:

W&M - very bad. Jimmye's last year does not look to be a happy finish to a great career at W&M. JMU looks to be 4 touchdown favorite. If Laycock has some luck and empties his bag of tricks perhaps this game could be within a couple scores.

At RU - Aka JMU West. JMU looks to be a slight double digit favorite on the "road". This appears to be one of the four games that looks to be the toughest on the schedule. As much as is makes me 03-puke RU is the one team that fits into the rivalry category meaning anything if possible. While this could be a blow out - it would not shock me is this game is closer than expected. Man they looked bad at UVA.

Elon in the Burg - 2nd best team in the CAA last year and looks to be improved this year. Likely best team left on schedule, but at JMU. Another 10-17 point favorite game. Depending on what happens at RU - this could be a dangerous game - but a loss would still would be a big a big upset. The biggest threat this team offers JMU is their ability to run the ball and control the clock. Another one of those top four left on the schedule.

at VU - The last of the 3 straight top 4 threats left on the schedule. Playing at VU is just weird. They are always a decent team in a high school environment. They are not that great a team - average in the CAA - but their biggest advantage it that high school stadium. Always seems to be a difficult game there...

Stony Brook at Home - We'll be a 14-17 point favorite at home. Average CAA team at JMU. Should not need to sweat this one out.

@ UNH - Will Knight be back? No road game up north is easy, but this looks to be the worst UNH team in a long time. Another game we will be a couple TD favorite if Trevor is back.

Rhode Island at Home - either 2nd or 3rd best offense in the league. Could make the playoffs. Surprise team of 2018. But defense is brutally bad....

& TU This is possibly our biggest regular season threat in the CAA. Towson is not bad, and if they improve they could be a top 15 team. Could be a trap game for us against a team that will likely need this game.

We don't play decent Maine or UD. We don't play awful Albany. UD would of been a threat even though they've not played that well so far. I think UD could be a top 15 team by YE. Maine has a good shot at the playoffs.

Maine will be making a playoff trip to BFS. 02-13-banana

Yeap. We'll get Maine in the second round after they beat a Patriot League team. Meanwhile NDSU will get a cupcake from the Southland Conf.

We'll hang 50+ on URI's defense...no way they score more than 20-30 on us.

Towson whooped VU. That scares me. Rhode Island seems to be for real. CAA is topsy turvy so far this year.

A 10 point win is a whooping? One of Towson's TDs was also a fumble scoop and score. Really only a FG difference between them offensively.

Bednarczyk seemed to pass at will on Towson's seconday and they had no answer. I would expect DiNucci to have similar success. Villanova's backfield also left much to be desired.

Both teams gave up 38 and 35 respectively from offensive scores. That's not exactly a defensive performance to write home about.

Both QBs passed heavily. TU with respectable rushing too.

Yep, none in our league.

We are currently at least 14 point favorites against every remaining team we face this season.
