In ‘69 the Cubs had a 10 game lead on August 13. Finished the season with 92 wins but still lost to the New York Mets. The amazing Mets Who went on to beat the Orioles win the World Series.

On the 13th the black cat game took place. Reading the article met Ed Kranepool explains the Mets had lots of cats at Shea Stadium. They had them so they can eat the rats.

Fast forward a generation and a half and the Mets from New York visiting Boston over all cities find out Boston has rats at Fenway to scare away the cats.

:melodramatic then the Mets were relevant. Not so much now. I think the Cubs have run out of two and four-legged critters to curse them. Goats, cats and Bartman.
