I knew I was forgetting what today was, thanks! When I woke up I had a feeling I was forgetting something and that something was the date. Best wishes and thanks and RIP to all the brave men and women who sacrificed their health and even their lives to aide those in need in one of our nations darkest times.

And I'm with the government, we are here to help you, I won't do it in your mouth and the checks in the mail.

Saw a pic that a firefighter friend shared on Facebook. FDNY ladder truck crossing the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan with the towers on fire in the background. People are already walking across the bridge in the opposite direction. The caption says all 6 firemen on that truck died that day. I can only imagine what must have been going thru their minds as they rode in and seeing what they were about to face. Having some family and lots of friends who are fire and police, it just hit home. As Alan Jackson sang "the heroes who died just doing what they do".

God bless America!

I remember the day the news reports started flowing in like it was yesterday. We were in the middle of a meeting and someone came into the room with the news of the first plane into the towers. The organizer or the meeting continued on and we finished the agenda for the meeting - but no one did any work for the rest of the day. Everyone was glued to their computers looking for news on what in the hell just happened to us!

Yea, it’s hard to believe that so much time has passed when the memories are still so vivid. It was such a surreal experience.

I was a sophomore in HS and in 2nd period English when our teacher got a call on her cell phone about it. School was cancelled not long after. Literally every channel was covering it by the end of the day.

I worked in DC for Marsh. Had several friends who were to be at a Marsh excellence meeting in one of the towers. They were late and didn't make it to the meeting.

One person I know was on the floor in the first towers to be hit. She did not survive.

I could see the smoke from the Pentagon from our office, we first thought it was the Lincoln memorial.

Ambassador Paul "Jerry" Bremer worked for us. He was interviewed by ABC, NBC, etc in our offices.

He later was the Governor of Iraq and he handed Iraq back to the Iraqis.

He told us that there would be no more than attacks that day. They sent us home with bottled water since they could not rule out to the reservoirs being poisoned.

I met my wife at home, ordered an Uno's pizza, picked it up and we spent the rest of the night watching the news.

I was getting ready for work and my wife told me a plane hit the tower. My first thoughts is that it was a mistake. Once the second plane hit I knew it was war.

I knew something was up a few days before the attack when they closed off access to Ft. Belvoir. We used to be able to drive through a road that went through the base.

I was working out in the field. We heard about it on the radio. All air traffic other than fighter jets ceased. I was supervising a pretty large crew. Most were in total shock and some cried. I sent them all home to be with their families.

I was at home getting ready to go on a trip. I saw the second plane hit as they were talking about the first. Had a friend who lived in lower Manhattan and literally felt the 2nd plane shake his building as it flew just over and caused his power to flicker.

For a brief period of time, all of America was united.

I had Mike and Mike on in the background, as I used to do each day back when it was tolerable. My Wife was out doing something, likely taking the kids to preschool or getting them haircuts, whatever.

She had the car radio on when they had "breaking news" cut in.

She called me and said something just happened in New York, you better turn on the news.

I flipped it on and sat down, about 12 minutes later I watched, mouth agape as a second plane came into the picture and those savages plowed into tower two.

This was the JFK incident of our generation, and kids 2 years old at the time are still over there fighting the kids of the people that did this.

I'm sure it's faded for many, but certainly never forgotten.
