Since it is the topic, interesting to note how Southern Miss' attendance dropped quite a bit in the 2nd game. 1st game was against Jackson State, 2nd against ULM.

Also I think Troy's attendance dropped from 29,000+ to 25,000 in 2nd game.

1st game against Boise State, they played a no name last weekend. Maybe Florida A&M or MVSU.

Will be interesting to see UAB's attendance this weekend considering the time of game, last weekend's results, etc.

Tulane at least is a higher named opponent.

I've done some attendance regression for UAB. I'm going to piggy back off of this weekly thread and update with my results. I used the FPI, wins and losses to predict average attendance for the season. The regression had over a 90% correlation and a standard error of 2,137 so this is relatively accurate. The weekly predictions are using FPI ranking as well as FPI's weekly projected wins and losses.

Preseason results predicted (FPI of 97, 7.2 Wins and 5 Losses): 24,820
After Week 1 (FPI of 88, 7.8 Wins and 4.4 Losses): 25,585 (+3.08%)
After Week 2 (FPI of 103, 6.1 Wins and 6.0 Losses): 22,851 (-10.69%)

UAB took a huge hit in week 2.

Yes and Charlotte's attendance was less than half compared to week 1. Huge drop for them.

I think you mean the opposite? Their attendance increased 107% from their first week, due to App State fans, I'd imagine.

Would be interesting to see what our attendance would be if we could have gotten Boise State, Baylor, etc. to come to town.

I believe FBHC Clark knows UAB will be in a rebuilding mode for the next few seasons so he will schedule accordingly. How soon he thinks the Blazers will be ready for such established opponents remains to be seen, but I think it will be after 2020.

This was the year to do big things, as 16 of the 22 starters are Seniors. Next year will be a totally different team. Clark has recruited well, so maybe there will not be a big drop-off. It might not be a bad time to reassess his staff and offensive philosophy.
