God, I hope so, primarily because I'm sick of the whining about them.

I think we’ve won more than we’ve lost in them. UCLA, Purdue twice, the Toledo game when Gunner threw 6 TDs... I think a game or two against an FCS opponent.

This is what happens when you can't afford someone to type for you. Wouldn't happen to the lidners

I guess that explains why our QBs weren't particularly accurate with their throws. They were channeling their inner stormtrooper.

Under the circumstances, I can't be upset with Ridder. First college game, on the road in a tough place, and he executed. He did well on a couple throws like the seam route to Warren at the end of the first quarter, the one to Jayshon(sp?) Jackson down to the 1 yard line on the same drive and some others. He has really good instincts and keeps his wits about him. If we can do an okay job at pass protection this season, with that defense and the stable of backs we have; I feel pretty good about this year. Won't be world beaters, but we won't be God-awful either. There are some fun players to watch on this team.

We had their defense winded in the second quarter but they were prepared in the third. We out-toughed them anyway. Coming out and playing what was basically smash mouth football(and having the personnel to pull it off) against UCLA at their place and winning; that's a pretty cool memory to have.
They might not be as good as they have been in the past, but I bet those kids will remember that game 'til their old & grey.

Anybody else notice the notches at the rose bowl for those of us who attended? Some people on this board would have gone nuts!

RE: Week 1: @ UCLA--GAMETHREAD - Z-Fly - 09-05-2018 01:36 PM

What bothered me more was, the security guy they made stand right in front of me the whole time.

Regardless of how good UCLA is the Rose Bowl is a special place. I can't speak to the players but as a fan I'll always remember winning there. Got back this morning and watched the broadcast. Awesome to hear how loud our group was.

We took the Rose Bowl tour.
Tour guide said those notches were added to accommodate...wait for it...
soccer.

Oh the horror.
The iconic Rose Bowl was desecrated to allow the other kind of football to fit on the field.

For those who couldn't make the trip...Pasadena is great. Rose Bowl lived up to expectations. Saw and did so much over the week we were there.
Make the trip sometime if you can. Totally worth it.
UC win was just icing on the California cake.

+1. I know it's unlikely we'd schedule them again but I'll be a part of any Bearcat trip to the Rose Bowl.

Probably more unlikely they'd schedule us again. Here's hoping they don't wimp out on a return date in Nippert.
