It kind of pisses me off that the UAB PR firm our tax dollars is paying for is generating these fluff pieces on the people who were complicit in the conspiracy to kill UAB football, but cant be bothered to insure we can get newspaper coverage of the team they broke up or the program they tried to kill.

Watts belongs in prison, and has no business sitting on his ass still collecting his blood money as one of the highest paid university presidents in the world.

If Watts orchestrates a successful movement to get us into the ACC, I will completely forgive him. :)

(ACC, not AAC).

Not saying you're wrong, but these quotes all came from the Q&A portion of the press conference announcing the Mike Slive foundation partnership. This wasn't a separate interview Goodman did with Watts.

Makes me want to vomit.

RE: Goodman - Ray Watts Article - BlazerMatt - 08-29-2018 09:28 AM

It's not a coincidence that the only articles we get from AL.com are fluff pieces aimed at shoring up the reputations of those that conspired with the BoT.

RE: Goodman - Ray Watts Article - the_blazerman - 08-29-2018 09:31 AM

Wouldn't doubt that the BOT paid for the fluff pieces.

Within a few months after he got the job, that snake was in meetings with boosters, coaches, AD staff, et. al., telling them how he was going to fund football, and the rest of athletics, build new facilities and a stadium.

And this MFer asked, "How can I help".

I think he's helped enough, don't give him any credit.

This plot line is so convoluted that Dr. Strange couldn't have figured a way to get to here.

He encouraged them to come up with the most expensive pie in the sky projects he could think of so that he could then use those requests against them by claiming the costs were to maintain those programs were to high.

RE: Goodman - Ray Watts Article - the_blazerman - 08-29-2018 09:52 AM

And as we know the BOT paid this firm money month's in advance to coordinate the removal of football yet Goodman and al.commie decide to still worship Watts.

It's a simple placed story, Media Management 101. They finally started listening to their NY mercenaries instead of the inept good ol' boys with crimson ties.

We did it too, and did it better.

But this is a significant story, my brothers and sisters. This was placed by someone way more competent than Clay Ryan.

**** just got real. We have a fight on our hands.

We also know they same firm is being used to bolster Watts et al public image. I'm very curious to see what sort of arrangement they have made with AL.com's parent company to have them print straight propaganda.

Yes he did. It was clear setup.

The war is far from over. It's just beginning. Make no mistake attendance will be watched closely and they will make a huge deal out of it. The opening game last year and this year will be compared. The narrative was written five minutes after fumbles scheduled SSU.

There's no secret arrangement, in that it's not a secret. It's open that you can pay to have whatever you want printed on al.com and in The Birmingham News. The "Comeback Town" series is just a paid placement for example. I wouldn't go as far as calling it "fake news" because that's a loaded term that implies a certain thing, but having worked adjacent to the advertising and PR industry, it's kind of shocking how coordinated these articles really are and how much money changes hands

RE: Goodman - Ray Watts Article - ATTALLABLAZE - 08-29-2018 12:26 PM

Money is no object for the machine.

That's true enough, but some are also placed without money changing hands (sexual inducements are not unknown, either). If it's done well, the reporter even thinks it was his/her idea to write the story. That was my first take on this story, but if you compare to other Goodman pieces he's suddenly become a much smoother writer with a better grasp of English grammar and syntax (and PR personality format) than he's ever shown before.

And further: that story's been up for some hours now, and the troll farm has yet to appear.

Someone else is handling their side now.

This is going to be ugly.
