Police warned masked demonstrators who were picking up stones in the city, about 200km (120 miles) south of Berlin, that their actions were being filmed.
Earlier, authorities said police were investigating alleged assaults on an Afghan, a Syrian and a Bulgarian during the unrest that broke out on Sunday.
Reports have included mentions of protesters chasing foreigners, though there are few details.
Chemnitz police, quoted by the local broadcaster MDR, said: "We did not anticipate such a total of participants [on Sunday]".
Bigger crowds thronged the city centre on Monday. MDR estimated the far-right turnout to be 5,000, with some 1,000 leftists opposed to them.

Let the police pull back and create a perimeter. Let both sides simply wipe themselves out. It will solve most of the issues in the area for a generation.

This is a perfect example of why fewer and fewer people trust the mainstream media.
Instead of just reporting, they feel the need to inject their bias into the conversation.
Never mind the fact that MANY of these "migrants" refuse to assimilate into German society, people who protest against them are "far right". Couldn't POSSIBLY be that they're concerned for their country, it HAS to be that they're Neo-Nazis.

I suspect this will become the growing norm throughout Europe. It's not like there isn't a historical record of invaders being repelled and cast out time and time again. The only difference this time is that the woke leadership invited the enemy in.
