Me too movement Asia Argento paid off male accuser - shere khan - 08-19-2018 09:29 PM

The Italian actress and director Asia Argento was among the first women in the movie business to publicly accuse the producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault. She became a leading figure in the #MeToo movement. Her boyfriend, the culinary television star Anthony Bourdain, eagerly joined the fight.

But in the months that followed her revelations about Mr. Weinstein last October, Ms. Argento quietly arranged to pay $380,000 to her own accuser: Jimmy Bennett, a young actor and rock musician who said she had sexually assaulted him in a California hotel room years earlier, when he was only two months past his 17th birthday. She was 37. The age of consent in California is 18.

I wouldn't be the least surprised if this isn't the ONLY case of the "offended & outraged" crowd ends up playing the "do as I say, not as I do" card.

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks"......

But I'm sure in typical MSM fashion, it will be non-news, wouldn't want to report on things that don't fit the narrative....

True enough, it's just that your side has perfected it, why they've almost elevated it to an art form.

I think both sides do a pretty good job. Imho we just have listening bias as the abused victims of the game.

Kid gets laid, and some cash as well?

Seems like a good deal to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Years ago the accusation of hypocrisy was usually made against Christians.

I always countered that everyone is guilty of hypocrisy.

Every single person on the planet, regardless of whether or not he or she is religious, is guilty of hypocrisy.

These days, it seems like the radleft has become the new poster child of hypocrisy taking the torch from Christians.

I'm with you. Kid nails a pretty hot actress and gets paid for his "suffering". Not a bad deal.

At the same time, this is a perfect example of "what's good for the goose is good for the gander".

Can't crucify people like Kevin Spacey when you're doing some of the same things.

Uhm, would that be this Rose McGowan?

I don't know many people that approve of what Harvey Weinstein allegedly did but these folks seem to take it to a new level. Is their career so ruined that this is their only way to get back in the spotlight?

In fairness, I don't think I've seen anything with Rose McGowan in it

My wife, a conservative woman, knows what HW did was wrong. But she's also adamant that these women were more than willing to do whatever it took at the time to launch their careers.

Multi-million $$$ and years later they complain.

She's not buying it.

My mother thinks the same way. Being 80, Catholic, conservative, and set in her ways, her reaction was "these women had every chance to say no, but they decided that their career was more important than their dignity and let him do what he did. Now they suddenly come out, cry sexual abuse, and play the victim?"

She ain't buying it either.

As for me, I have similar thoughts.

If these actresses were that aghast over HW, they could have told him to take a hike or kicked him in the plumbs. Either way, THEY decided that the role or their career was worth it. Can't complain now.

This is a very good point. I'm not saying the Hollywood casting couch is acceptable but it seems many knew what the deal was and went along. Later they want to blow it up. However, HW allegedly threatened women that said they would expose him and had people spy on them. That ain't right on any level.

The casting couch is the worst kept secret in hollywood and all the sudden the media picks up on it and makes a case.

Is there a bigger story here or are the times really changin'?

Actress: My goodness. Well, I'd certainly think about it.
Shaw: Would you sleep with me for a pound?
Actress: Certainly not! What kind of woman do you think I am?!
Shaw: Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price."

Rose McGowan Wanted Us To Believe All Sexual Abuse Allegations…Until Her Friend Was Implicated

Women just like men, can abuse people and/or lie about it. A self-evident comment, at least until #MeToo came along and the mob swarm requiring liberal orthodoxy hit. Everything should always depend on the evidence, not on the race or the sex of the people involved.
