Curse these dog days of Summer. It's so hot and all I have are soccer, tennis, and golf to watch to feed my sports cravings.
Anyways, here's the opening lines for week 1 as of now:
Texas St +18.5
Rutgers -18.5
SE Louisiana +12
UL Monroe -12
Grambling St +14.5
UL Lafayette -14.5
SE Missouri St +28
Arkansas St -28
South Alabama +10
La Tech -10
Troy +10.5
Boise St -10.5
Georgia St +1
Kennesaw St -1
App St +24
Penn St -24
SC State +27
Georgia Southern -27
Coastal Carolina +29.5
South Carolina -29.5
So we're only favored in 4 out of 10 match ups? Yikes. Georgia State should easily beat Kennesaw...should. Outside of that, I think Troy and USA have the best chances to pull off the upset. The lines for the Louisiana schools are surprisingly close. Also, could you imagine if TXST shocks the world right off the bat? 18 points is doable.

Apparently the line is so close that it flip flops. I think it just recently flipped to KSU. By one week out, I bet GAST will be favored by a touchdown.

They are #7 FCS. They are more than capable of beating Georgia State.

Winning a big game means more than losing to an FCS school. If GSU loses, people will simple say that's SBC football. If Troy wins, it will give the league a lot of notoriety.

Honestly I think us winning would be best for the SBC. That would mean that the bottom of our conference might be pretty solid. I think if Willie Jones is the real deal we could do some damage this year. Long shot though.

Just for the absolute joy of it, I will be a HUGE Jaguar fan that first week. As a matter of fact, if a USA fan will send me a cap or t-shirt, I will gladly have it displayed at my tailgate on Thursday and loudly cheer from them on Saturday!! LOL

I wouldn't bet on us with your money. We SHOULD win that game. But as an FBS team, we have only beat 2 FCS programs. So I don't blame the odds makers.

If I were Gast, I would be terrified of playing KSU right now. Nevermind the fact that they've struggled with FCS teams, if you're playing one you don't want it to be a playoff contender that you're up against. You definitely don't want it to be a playoff contender that runs our old offense.
Brian Bohannon and Grant Chestnut (both from GS backgrounds) are very good at running the offense they run. It's nothing like what Gast has played before from us. Elliott also lost to Citadel who ran a similar scheme while interim HC at SCar.
They have nothing to be intimidated about in Gast's stadium and will give them their best shot. The question is who takes a knockdown blow first?

Worlds of difference. TSU was something like #65 FCS in the Massey's. Kennesaw is #7, lest you think all FCS teams are built the same.

1AA/FCS is no where close to where it once were. The division has been weakened by all the transitions to FBS. I hate to think that a KS team scares GaSt.

I didn't say he loses this one, just that he already has a loss to a similar team. Maybe he learned some lessons? I don't know.
However the KSU coaching staff is not one to take lightly. If they have their team ready to play that first game, you'll have some issues.
Honestly I don't want ya'll to lose to FCS teams anymore, we all need to do our part in making sure that doesn't happen again. I just know if it was us, I'd be concerned.

Penn State wins, covers. Opening with Penn State will be brutal for App St. About the best you can hope for is to get out of there with no major injuries.
Georgia Southern wins, doesn't cover
South Carolina wins, covers. Another instance of the best case being getting out of there with no major injuries.
