Yes, Bob-- I got an e-mail earlier in the week inviting me to attend, and RSVPs were not required.

RSVPs aren't required, but the email did ask to let them know if you were planning on attending so they could plan accordingly.

"While it is not obligatory, if you plan to attend please reply to this email so we can plan appropriately." The email came from:

Same. Bloomgren’s was the same until JK came in.

Great enthusiasm.

141 now...

Apparently Coach Graham showed Bragga around yesterday...

We also appear to have upgraded our video software. Real time excerpts!

Say what you want about JK but he certainly seems to hire people that are really easy to like. Great energy, and I can see what all the UT fans were talking about after the Supers.

04-cheers Really great. I hope we continue that relationship (like Bragga said). I know the transition was tough but I’m looking forward to the statue/stadium naming in the future.

Looks like standing room only.

Should have built a bigger roost...

No questions about recruiting/expectations

JK:

The Rice baseball family hasn't been through this in a while.

(Complements to WG.)

What made our new head coach stand out? Your experience. Your interview. And your references.

. . .

Matt Bragga:

(Took his coat off ... and put the Rice jersey on.)

"Don't hate me, but I AM a New York Yankee fan."

(Introduces his family. His wife ran track & cross country at Kentucky & Alabama. His children "are college baseball fanatics." His mom and dad are in the room, too.)

Reckling & campus beauty: "What young man would not want to come here to play baseball."

WG "took the time yesterday to walk me and my family around the facility. And I'll continue to pick his brain."

"What you're going to get with me is high energy, passion, high-energy competitiveness. I love competitors. Competitors win."

The "slight edge principle. What can we do to get a slight edge over our competitors. We will take time to make personal development ... even off the field.

"What you can expect from our guys:" grit, competitiveness, ownership, leadership. "The best teams have internal team leadership."

Q&A:

Glynn Hill: What's the last month been for you? "Fast, but exciting." Tells story about meeting when he was hired at Tennessee Tech: showed photo of Rosenblatt Stadium. "If you hire me, we will get to the College World Series." I didn't give a timeline. This year we got one game from Omaha.

(On the) Friday prior to the Super Regional, Rice reached out to me.

Berman (Fox): What was it like for you when Joe said 'you're out guy.' Exciting. You always hope for that call.

Bartlett (The Roost): What about Rice made it worth uprooting yourself from Tennessee Tech? In college baseball, Rice is one of the Top 25 jobs ... probably higher than that.

Adam Wexler (KPRC): What did you know about Rice before this year? I've known about Rice since I started coaching, even my last few years playing college baseball. They win, they win. Maybe not as much lately. But a great place to coach baseball.

Berman: David Pierce said your teams 'were unflappable, incredibly prepared, worked hard'. I am humbled to hear that. I'm willing to learn from anyone. I've even studied great soccer coaches.

Do you expect any changes given the different profile at Rice? No. If you can do it at Tennessee Tech, we can do it big-time at Rice. It's only going to be better.

What's it like seeing you face all around this room? I'm a baseball coach. I like to roll up my sleeves and get to work. We want the publicity; we want good publicity.

Ended ... and photo taken with JK.
