Sour Pelosi; ‘Strong employment numbers mean little’ - usmbacker - 06-02-2018 08:34 AM

Idiot Pelosi trying to diminish the great unemployment numbers is beyond priceless. This is what the Dems have to offer this country. Hilarious.

Quote:The Trump economy is booming, but that’s not good enough for Nancy Pelosi.

The May unemployment rate was a stunningly low 3.8 percent, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Black unemployment is the lowest ever: 5.9 percent, the Washington Examiner reports.

But instead of celebrating the incredible economic activity, the House Speaker wannabe shrugged.

“May’s jobs report shows that strong employment numbers mean little to the families hit with soaring new costs under the Republicans’ watch,” the House Minority Leader said in a statement.

Imagine what she and her party would have said if these results were there when their guy was in the White House.

What are our soaring new costs?

Gas going up, but that's happened many times in past.

House prices going up...indicative of a strong economy.

Healthcare coats going up...has been happening for a looooong time even before the ACA.

I've never liked Trump as a person and don't like his personality as a leader either, but hard to deny the economy is doing well. He's at least somewhat responsible no matter how little people like Pelosi want to give him credit for it.

[Reporter] Can you explain your comments that the tax cuts for this year were crumbs and the strong employment numbers just out are not a big deal in the context of low and middle income working class families improving their economic conditions and quality of life since many of these you claim to represent as your constituents?"

[Pelosi] (Awkward silence.)

Why would democrats act any differently than republicans did?

Than republicans acted when? The 8 years of the previous administration when the only way they could get the numbers to favor them was by extreme manipulation and revising the methodology for gathering employment statistics? LOL LOLOL LOLOLOL

So useful you are.

Democrats don't want people working. They want people dependent on handouts. Keep 'em dumb, keep 'em poor, keep 'em dependent on handouts, and you can keep 'em voting democrat.

Democrats are patricians, feudal barons. The know more than the peons and want to rule them.

It amazes me how many willingly fall for it.

Democrats have literally flooded California with peons to rule. Words have meaning as of course you know

Thanks Obama

We're a year and half past his tenure. The point of the OP was Pelosi's indifference to and belittling of continued improving economic conditions under the Trump administration. This graph seems a bit "whataboutism."

Exactly... which is why the unemployment rate steadily dropped during the 8 years of President Obama’s tenure.

I think the only person who got dumber over the past decade was you. Must be about to start drawing Social Security.

No. Unemployment dropped (but not "steadily," see paragraph below) under Obama because he took over just as a recession bottomed out. In that situation unemployment is going to drop significantly unless government does something to hinder that. And there is some reason to believe that Obama's policies made the recovery slower, and therefore kept unemployment higher than it would have been without those policies.

Plus, you will note from the graph that unemployment didn't really start to drop until republicans retook the house and began to rein in some of Obama's most extreme policies.

Do you not know how to read a simple graph?
The rate was basically the same when he took office and when he left. With a lot of misery in between. Certainly not on a “steady decline”. Many would argue that with lame duck status and the change of power in congress he was saved from real failure. I would also argue that as the end of his term neared the economic outlook became more positive.
