It would be awesome if Max was a first round pick.
I hope he stays healthy this year for NIU and his future.

I think Sutton ultimately ends up transitioning to an OLB edge rusher for a 3-4 defense due to his size. Max is a beast and should be a 1st round pick based on his consistency and health. Oh, and he is just a massive human being.

Buffalo has 2 players, that coach has done a decent job there considering that "hotbed" of football Western NY.

Too bad the Huskies don't play Buffalo this year. It would be fun to see those two guys play.

Maybe they will in the MACC!

NIU will not get a whiff of the MACC until or unless they develop a passing game. Last year we struggled mightily to complete short, intermediate and long routes. You cannot win that way. Perhaps Childers has developed in the off season. I hope so, just not sure that we have a coaching staff that can help him develop and he had a long way to go.

This year shapes up much better than last. Our 3 year QB clown car has had one good thing going for it. Timing. We didn't have a QB on the roster who could compete with either Woodside in 17 or Terrell in 16. This year there is no clear cut top QB. Yes Childers has to improve GREATLY, I agree. But this is the year you can get to a MACC with just better than average play from that position.(unless a surprise star emerges)

I would be surprised if Sutton Smith goes for the draft this year. I believe he has another year of elgibility to get even bigger and stronger.

That’s what I’m hoping also. I want him in a Huskie uniform for as long as possible for my own selfish reasons.

I agree. We found a diamond in the rough, but it’s going to be tough if he has another monster year, or projects in the top 5 defensive talents in the country.
