No real surprises with the week 1 lines. If only Tulane or SMU can pull off the upset, which would be better for the conference?

Id place a bet at ECU over 3 wins..... Not that I necessarily believe it can happen, but so I have something to keep me invested in ECU football when we are 2-7 later in the season. You would think I would know this....if you make that bet on a over under and they hit 3 wins is that a push and I bet the over....is that a push? Do i lose, or is 3 all I need? because 4....thats alot.

I think Tulane at 5.5 could be a good bet...that team has been getting a little better each year. Its just so has most of the conference.

Looks like we will be looking for a new coach again

if the line is 3 then you need ECU to get 4 wins to win your bet. 3 wins would push the bet. 2 or less wins and you lose. Usually the win totals are done with a .5 so there aren't any pushes.

I like the Memphis over 8.5

IMO, we have 8 wins and 4 toss up games- @ Navy, @ Mizzou, UCF, Houston. Need to win 1/4 to hit the over.

Definitely Tulane. Wake isn't Clemson but it's still a p5 brand. And Tulane, it pains me to say, is a brand associated with losing. If we can start off strong against Wake and show up against UAB then a matchup between undefeated Tulane v Ohio State will put huge eyeballs on one of the AAC cellar dwellers.

A win against UNT wouldn't be super impressive for SMU, undeservedly so. But a loss against UNT would almost immediately put their bowl chances at about 15%. Their schedule is brutal for a first year coach.

I'll take the over on Tulsa's 4.

If they were real lines, I would be all over the under on SMU 7.

That UCLA Cincy line looks very tasty too. Chip will take a min to get his system in and Cincinnati looks like they are making steady steps towards their goals. Couple transfers, system in, attitudes changes, good recruiting.

UCF has a brand new coach and the over/under for the season is 9?!

That's insane, new coach would typically be lucky to be bowl eligible in his 1st season. 6 wins should be the expectation.

Take the over on Cincy, for sure.

4 is way too low for Cincy. I have them at 6-6 or so - and that's not pulling many upsets along the way. They're underrated.

I don't think there will be that big of a drop off between coaching staffs. From what I have seen Heupel runs a fairly similar system as Frost so all the cogs should still fit. UCF lost a couple of playmakers but I still don't see a big drop off from last year.

RE: Opening betting lines for 2018 college football - Tiger1983 - 05-30-2018 07:03 AM

The uncertainty at quarterback does not allow me sufficient confidence to predict “over” for Memphis.

Opening betting lines for 2018 college football - Pony94 - 05-30-2018 07:13 AM

We are keeping a similar offense and have something like 9 graduate transfers mainly on defense and offensive line so I don’t see us regressing

If we have two *good* quarterbacks competing for the position I'm going to agree. During the spring they we're described as 1 and 1A --- hope that's a positive.
