The transaction was approved and closed earlier this month. The U of M has had a naming agreement with TCF for the home of Gophers football since it opened in 2009. TCF got the naming rights to the stadium in 2005 on a 26-year, $35 million agreement with the school that runs through 2030.

No, a lot of UH fans are thinking the same thing, and the players and coaches are excited about playing on campus and having more students at the games.

However the harsh realities are that the site is only large enough to accommodate a 20K-25K seat stadium and the university lacks the funding to build a true FBS-caliber facility. Also traffic on game days would be horrendous due to very constrained access routes onto campus. The surrounding Manoa community which is one of the most affluent on the island would probably fight it tooth and nail.

My guess is that after two or three seasons sqeezing into an undersized venue where the bleacher seats are mostly uncomfortable and have lousy views, the novelty will wear off and everyone will be excited about returning to a full-sized stadium with easy access, big-time crowds, excellent sight lines and state-of-the-art amenities.
