I'm not from AL but on the surface it seems like tearing it down would be the best COA. Legion Field will stay around for the unseeable future. I'm pretty sure the Magic City Classic will still be played there and some of the city council members are still trying to make it useful for other events. I think seventy million is close to the total . It will be perfect for the bowl game 19,394 seats 20,000 SRO. I could see a MAC vs SBC or C-USA game selling out and looking good. A lot of those teams fans visit Myrtle Beach anyway. Being on the smaller side helps Coastal build its fan base.CCU has a perfect set up with most students having an easy walk to the stadium and arena. RE: Stadium Renovation and Construction Thread - Wedge - 09-01-2019 06:04 PM Some interesting tidbits in this article about San Diego State's effort to purchase and take over the existing San Diego stadium site. https://www.voiceofsandiego.org/topics/news/your-questions-about-the-status-of-the-mission-valley-stadium-answered/ Quote:The resounding takeaway is that, unless something has dramatically changed in recent weeks, the university really doesn’t know how it is going to pay for this stadium. That was true before the vote, after the vote and likely to this day. What will SDSU do if they can't raise enough money to build a brand-new stadium, or if they decide there are better uses for the money they do raise? Not surprisingly, the answer is: Keep using the existing stadium. Quote:SDSU’s draft Environmental Impact Report, which it had to prepare to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act, has an interesting idea: Don’t build a new stadium. Stadium Renovation and Construction Thread - panama - 09-04-2019 05:53 AM That would seem weird that thy do not know. The property though is the thing. It gives them a host of options. I can tell you that as late as maybe 2014 our President at an alumni e emt mentioned razing Turner Field and building an erector set on the North portion of their property, in an alumni meeting. Cooler heads prevailed. The real decision will come in a few weeks or months. But I assure you that the President of SDSU privately knows how many $$$ he has to work with and where they are coming from. Obviously it's a much more cost effective option to renovate/reuse the existing stadium, as Georgia State did. Maybe SDSU will do that. Or maybe they have already lined up all the financing for tearing down the old stadium and building a new one. Maybe they just don't want to make their plans public until after they have completed purchasing the land from the city.
