Is it just one game?

Looks like it's just one game. We play Quinnipiac. We are decidedly the undercard matchup, as the other two matchups are West Virginia-Rhode Island and Tulsa-Dayton.

I'll roll with this JB...

DU is playing another game in Connecticut. @UConn. Not sure of the date.

According to the Wikipedia page, Drexel will be taking their return trip to Bowling Green on Friday November 9th. The opening of the CBB season was moved to 11/6, so this may or may not be their first game.

Drexel's game at UCONN will be on Tuesday 12/18, 2 days after they play at Mohegan Sun.

Bowling Green's 125 miles south of me, so I might go. The only place closer we've played is Toledo (100 miles).

Where are you located, Louisville? Bowling green is closer than normal for me too, but still quite the haul and a tad too far. With it being on a Friday night, I may make that long trek there and head to Nashville for the weekend to make it worthwhile.

Drexel is no longer playing Bowling Green on November 9th. We got pushed aside so that they can play a road game against St. John's that night. I guess the game is still on for another date.

Dan10, Bowling Green's south of me, so I'm north of it- in Michigan. Go north on I-75 and I-94, just past Detroit, and you'd be close.

Not gonna lie, I always assumed Bowling Green was in bowling green Kentucky, not Ohio. My bad. Still a 4 hour drive for me, so lengthy.

Looks like Drexel is "hosting" Temple at the Palestra on December 22nd.

There are several other updates on this page, including LaSalle back at Tom Gola on November 17th.

3 games left to decide? Its not a bad OOC so far.

https://drexeldragons.com/news/2018/7/30/mens-basketball-dragons-announce-non-conference-schedule.aspx

The non-conference schedule is finished. Personally, I don't care who they play. I am a bit disappointed that they're not going to have a traditional home opener. The last couple of years, they opened up on a Friday night to sellout crowds, while engaging the students and introducing the freshman to Drexel Basketball. This year, the home opener is on a Wednesday night against Bryn Athyn (a tiny barely existent college in the town where I grew up. We passed by it on the way to high school every day and barely even knew that it was an actual college). That's not going to excite the students. Then their first Division I home opener is on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving when all the students will be gone.

Our home game against Temple is at the Palestra, where they'll charge season ticket holder and arm and a leg for chairback seats to help the school subsidize the cost of renting the place out. Chances are, the crowd at that game will probably be small enough to fit into the DAC.

RE: 2018-2019 Schedule Updates - Dragon For Life - 07-31-2018 02:43 AM

I said it before but I actually like the schedule excluding Bryn Athyn use them as a practice team if you want before the season but come on you can't get any small D 1 schools? I felt like this was a money things/last second fill. Boston University and Rutgers was a nice get tho.

RE: 2018-2019 Schedule Updates - dan10 - 07-31-2018 06:35 AM

A good home opener is definitely important for trying to engage students. You do want it to be a winnable game, but you also want it to be a game people will desire to watch. Friday night, Saturday games certainly help that cause but sometimes its hard to dictate the day of the week that the home opener will fall on. Not every team can open on weekends.

Personally we need to get the Penn game back as the opener at the Palestra/DAC. There is not better way to kick off the season with enthusiasm than that game. Period. As far as the quality of the schedule, for trying to build local interest it is solid because it is mostly local teams. I like the approach and many here have always wanted that approach. I couldn't care less if we play local teams as opposed to teams all over the country as long as they are quality opponents. There should be winnable games on this schedule, which is still key since we are still very much rebuilding and do not have a top notch squad.

It's Dunph's last game at the Palestra. I'm sure we'll bring a lot of fans.
