Sending prayers azabs way - Tigergary - 04-21-2018 09:37 AM

Has been announced he has leukemia.

RE: Sending prayers azabs way - Tiger1983 - 04-21-2018 09:39 AM

My prayers are with him while he deals with something no young person should have to endure.

RE: Sending prayers azabs way - holyterror - 04-21-2018 09:49 AM

Amen to that.

Two different kinds. AML & ALL. I can speak personally to AML. It's curable when younger, but they throw the kitchen sink at it with chemo. Prognosis is tied heavily to cytogenetic profile. A tough road for the young man, but he's young and in excellent shape otherwise, which is an excellent help dealing with the chemo. He may also need a stem cell transplant.

Prayers from me too.

Does anyone know an address to send him a card?? Tough break. But he wore the Blue & Gray. I’m with him all the way.

I feel terrible for him. He should be having the time of his life in his 20s, not worrying about chemo and trying to live. Big prayers for the big guy. If anyone knows where to send a card, let us know. I would love to send one.

That's just terrible. I was wondering why he was sick, but didn't expect leukemia. Prayers sent his way.

I’ll be praying for Azab. A fine young Tiger for life.

Mark G. is on his game. In Dallas for the Nike EYBL, and still got an article out with multiple quotes: https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/sports/college/memphis-tigers/basketball/2018/04/21/memphis-forward-karim-sameh-azab-announces-hes-been-diagnosed-leukemia/539018002/

Sounds like Tiger Nation doing a nice job rallying around Karim:

". . . Memphis-based attorney Richard Glassman has been working with Azab and the university to help with allow his parents to come visit him from Egypt."
. . .
Smith subsequently returned to Memphis in order to visit Azab after being hired by High Point last month.

“He was in good spirits, but he hadn’t finished treatment," Smith said. "He’s with the best medical people probably in the country there in Memphis, so we just pray that he’s going to be fine and he’ll overcome this. He’s such a kind person [and] caring with his teammates."
. . .
"Memphis coach Penny Hardaway said Saturday in Dallas, where he was also recruiting at the Nike EYBL event, that he went to visit Azab in the hospital as well. When told that Azab had made his diagnosis public, Hardaway lamented how one twinge of pain could disrupt Azab's entire college life.

"It's just an unfortunate situation and I pray for the kid," Hardaway said

Tubby’s right. He is probably with the best folks in the country - probably in the world, to treat his leukemia.

Prayers for you, Karim, as you go through your treatment and journey to a full recovery. May you and your entire family be filled with perfect peace and faith. Looking forward to hearing all the news as you get well.
