Can't seem to copy his statement on his twitter page. Verbal commits indicates he had offers from Memphis, UCF, and FGCU

Kamani Johnson

6'8" | 210 LBS | SF
HOLY SPIRIT PREPARATORY SCHOOL
ATLANTA, GA
CLASS OF 2018

is the latest prospect from the 2018 class to catch the eye of the Wisconsin coaching staff.

A 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward from Holy Spirit Preparatory in Georgia, Johnson has been in recent contact with assistant coach Howard Moore.

The younger brother of Thunder center Dakari Johnson, Kamani Johnson is very talented on the court as well.

The 2018 forward is having a solid senior season at Holy Spirit Prep and is looking to help the Cougars secure back to back GISA state championships. Although he is mainly focused on his team’s success right now, he has some important individual decisions coming up as well. There has not been much talk of his recruitment recently, but I was able to catch up with Johnson to get the latest.

There are a few different schools who have been actively talking with Johnson. “Kennesaw State, College of Charleston, Murray State, and Tennessee-Chattanooga are on me the most right now” he says. Kamani took an official visit to Kennesaw State in November; it will be interesting to see if the Owls could secure a significant in-state commitment. KSU is definitely going to have competition however. Johnson could be an immediate impact player at various mid-major programs throughout the Southeast.

Johnson and his Holy Spirit team have been challenging themselves against big-time opponents in various holiday tournaments. Kamani has produced for the Cougars in these important matchups, regaining some of the attention that he had during the travel circuit with the Southern Stampede. When asked about his skills, Johnson said “I have a high IQ, good motor, pass well, and can get a double-double almost every night.” This statement has proven to be accurate whenever I have watched him. At 6’7”, Johnson has great versatility for his size and plays with the type of toughness that coaches love. You will never see him take a play off; his energy and effort are excellent and the Cougars feed off of it.

Johnson is looking to finish the season strong and is excited to get ready for the next level. “I am ready to help my team get back to the state championship and win it all again!” It will not be surprising if HSP gets back to the GISA final as they have one of the most talented teams in the entire state. As for his personal goals, Johnson said “I want to find a school with the right fit and make sure I prepare myself to make an impact in college.” Johnson will probably wait things out as he fields more interest from different programs. With the momentum he’s been building lately, don’t be surprised if a lot of schools start to jump in. He will be a good one to get.

Atlanta 6-foot-8, 200 pound forward Kamani Johnson ranks with the best in the EYBL as far as rebounds per minutes played. He also has a connection to the University of Minnesota.

Minnesota is one of several schools that have contacted the Southern Stampede forward who goes to Holy Spirit Prep in Atlanta. Kamani Johnson has scored 6.7 points a game with 7.5 rebounds a contest.

“I hear the most from UCF, Florida Gulf Coast, Butler, UAB but have offer and interest from Minnesota, Georgetown, Memphis, Georgia Southern, Nebraska and Georgia Tech.

I was getting a little worried but if Darrell can bring in talent of this caliber he can go as slow as he wants! I know all recruits sound good but this one sounds exceptionally talented!
