Expect to see a pickup in our commit count after our upcoming camp.

When is it?

RE: [split] Mike Bloomgren's 2nd Rice recruiting class - ExcitedOwl18 - 06-11-2018 09:24 PM

Camps were Saturday/Sunday.

Bishop Lynch TE Jack Bradley committed tonight. Offers from CU, UTSA, McNeese, and some ivies.

RE: [split] Mike Bloomgren's 2nd Rice recruiting class - elw4796 - 06-11-2018 09:54 PM

Couple of new offers too:

Big get right there.

Yeah, I haven’t seen any supporting evidence that he had UT and Baylor offers but hey, looks like a good pickup either way.

With regard to the new website, looks like a positive development.

Some more recruiting updates...

Cut from list:
3* DE Peter Mpagi
3* ATH Devin Boddie
3* OL Taylor Miterko

Committed elsewhere:
3* QB Paul Piferi (Purdue)

Unsurprisingly a bunch of our 3* targets are starting to haul in better offers.

Some more (as of June 14):
3* WR Shamar Johnson (SMU)
3* QB Zach Calzada (TAMU)
3* QB Austin Kirksey (Nevada)
NR LB Maki Carabin (La Tech)

Not the most fleet of foot, but good size and good hands. Should develop into a beast if he can put on 20-25 pounds.

Same pattern as under Bailiff, and probably all other coaches. Early offers out to 3* and 4*. As they committed elsewhere, down the list to 2* and NR.

Rivals has Jack Bradley as 3*. Passed on other offers from Colorado, Army, Air Force, SD State, NM State, UTSA plus a few Ivies (13 offers). It's early, but his commit is a good sign.

Well Coach Bloom is doing a fantastic job considering what a terrible season we had the last two years.

I think we're gonna have a bit of trouble keeping Justin Moore committed. I know it's just social media, but he doesn't mention Rice anywhere on his Twitter page and his pinned tweet is his offer from Texas Tech. Doesn't seem he's too solid right now.

RE: [split] Mike Bloomgren's 2nd Rice recruiting class - ExcitedOwl18 - 06-15-2018 06:34 AM

Hmm, yeah that’s concerning.

@RiceOwlsFB tweeted that we are having a bunch of guys visit today so hopefully we get a commit or two...

I think we then go into a dead period pretty soon but not sure if exact dates. Of course, that doesn’t mean guys can’t commit.. We just can’t initiate contact.

Really hope the staff goes after him if he fits what they're looking for in a QB. Brilliant kids from Texas are the ones we need to be getting.

And Chase Griffin commits to UCLA. Not sure whether we went after him at all, but I'm sure we won't regret letting a relatively local, incredibly smart 3* QB get away.

Miles Lester told him that Rice people never get good jobs in business since we don’t have a major.

Milles may personally believe that, but it's an absurd comment. A business undergraduate major will make you no more attractive to prospective employers than any other BA or BS degree, and probably worse off. Just my perspective having worked 25+ years in the financial services industry.
