Fertitta Center update - CougarRed - 03-13-2018 09:19 AM

Seating chart for the new Houston basketball arena opening in December:

Sections starting with C are the club seats. Nobody in college basketball has club seats closer to the court.

L are loge. They actual club is behind the loge under sections 102-104. Only a few loge seats left.

FL sections are the most expensive seats. Floor seats requiring a $50K donation each. They are sold out. They will have their own bunker club under Section 119.

S11-S15 are student seats. The first 350 students will get prime seats courtside. The remaining students and band will be in 109-110.

I will be sitting in Section 103, right above the loge and with access to the club below. 103 is sold out.

Total capacity: 7200.

All new restrooms, concessions, concourses, scoreboards, audio, lockers, etc. New halo roof with 360 degree LED ribbon board.

Cost $60M

Is this a built from scratch facility or renovation of an existing facility?

Houston has come a long way since the C-USA 2.0 days. I always wish former conference mates the best except for BYU, j/k.

This is the rebuilt/renovated Hofheinz Pavilion.

U of H played their home games this season at Texas Southern.

Definitely looks like an updated Hofienz. Maybe a UH fan can confirm.

OK. I saw the games at Texas Southern. Didn't know if they had torn down Hofheinz or were remodeling.

Looks great. Out of curiosity, who or what is a Fertitta?

Tilman Fertitta. He is the major donor to the project.

Owner of the Houston Rockets, chairman of the board of regents for U of H. Chairman and CEO of Landry's Restaurants, which include the Golden Nugget casinos, Landry's Seafood House, Claim Jumper, Rainforest Cafe, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Morton's Steakhouse, McCormick & Schmick's, Saltgrass Steakhouse, and several other restaurant chains. He is also the star of the CNBC show Billion Dollar Buyer.

Needless to say, he's a really big deal in Houston.

Tillman Fertitta is the owner of Landry's and the Houston Rockets.

Not sure if he is related to the Fertittas who used to own UFC

He's their third cousin.

From Wikipedia:
Fertitta and his wife Paige live in the River Oaks neighborhood of Houston with their four children, Michael, Patrick, Blayne, and Blake. He is the third cousin of former UFC owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta. An avid sports fan, Fertitta is a vocal supporter of the University of Houston Cougars and can be seen at most Cougar football and basketball games as well as court side for Houston Rockets basketball games. In 2016, Fertitta donated $20 million to rebuild Hofheinz Pavilion for University of Houston basketball along with donations for the construction of TDECU Stadium.
