Boy, isn't this the truth?

If I wasnt a 15 year fan with emoational investment and didn't have a 9 year old son, I'd be done. I wonder how many of the more casual fans won't be back in November and will stay home until we build another smoke and mirrors record and JJ begs them to come out and watch us get outcoached and blown out against WKU.

Out coached? We held them in the 50s and lost. We have one of the better defenses in college basketball every year. We shot 7% from 3 and 50% from FT. That is why we lost. Not coaching.

PS you are top 3 most negative people on this board so people don’t take what you say seriously. It’s just more annoying than anything

I will never understand the “im done” mentality. I have experience with it bc its how my toddlers act when they lose.

So you think it is a coincidence that we shoot like this in every high stakes game we have played in for 5 years that Freeman hasn't carried us? We proved throughout the year that we are a solid shooting team in both FTs and 3s. I watch inferior teams like Southern Miss, UTSA, and Marshall light it up against the same teams, yet we crap the bed every single time. Why is that if not coaching?

Our defense was ok, but nothing spectacular. Only reason we didn't lose by 25 again is because WKU also missed their open shots, especially in the first 12 minutes of the game. We got a little lucky there.

Jeff has NO control over his players. They don't respect him. How do you let Trey Porter get technical foul after technical foul this year?! He doesn't hold them accountable and he lacks the leadership qualities needed for these young men. I was embarrassed to be an ODU fan after Porter's actions last night. I blame Jeff for losing Zoran Talley as well. Go ahead, you guys will put all the blame on Talley, and while I understand he was the one making the mistakes he did, if Jeff had been a better leader and communicator with Talley, this could have been avoided. He's so negative all the time, berating the guys from the sideline, I don't know why they want to play for him. I told you guys a week ago that this was going to happen and I don't know why some of you are shocked by the results from last night.

Jeff set up this cupcake schedule to ensure he would get 20+ wins and would come back for another year or more. Well guess what, if you're happy with NIT's and CBI's, this will be our post season for years to come if Jeff sticks around, so enjoy!

I am ready to move on from Jeff Jones and get somebody who can actually win a big game. We deserve better than this constant mediocrity.

Cmett is spot on. Don't blame the coach for playing in a venue where zero intimidation is involved (I trust everyone saw the little league venue setting we played in) and we can't hit half our free throws. There is reason to believe going forward we have the foundation to be a good team. I am more worried whether it matters with the CUSA yielding RPI we will get. CUSA needs to be the consideration not the Coach.

Why is this an either/or in your mind?

Granted, Coach Jones is not responsible for the awful platform that CUSA provides for our basketball program.

Coach Jones is entirely responsible for developing a roster that goes only 7 deep, and cannot maintain its composure in a make-or-break tournament.

Both of these statements are true. Little Woody is now responsible for addressing both of them during the offseason.

We played in the same venue as everyone else. Yeah, it sucked, but it was no disadvantage.

I see JJ being much more positive on the sidelines than BT. I would doubt anyone on the staff speaks as harshly to our guys as BT either. I expect a coach to yell and get mad on the sideline. Especially in a losing effort. I don’t think JJ being “negative”, is the issue. There may be issues, but that’s not it IMO

Gotta have it both ways. I've seen BT and JJ, and at least those players respected BT. They don't respect JJ.

We’re in a frustrating spot. Our coach is doing just enough to avoid termination - but the last few seasons have ended in disappointment. And if we terminate him, then it will destabilize the program for at least a year. Not sure whether our lack of energy and execution is a function of coaching or the players collective performance. But I will say JJ didn’t miss all those FTs.

I read atudd like this all the time. Do you have first hand knowledge of this claim? Or is this how you would feel if you got yelled at for messing up?

Genuine question. Because of you know for fact that his team doesn't respect him we have major issues.

And I agree with you. His demeanor on the sidelines is lackluster. But I can't claim his team don't respect him. He gives knucks and they walk by him and they have love hate going on from I've seen.

One of my big concerns from yesterday was that no one could throw it in the Ocean from outside. After awhile wouldn't you give Godwin a chance? Guys were open and I guessing Godwin would have been open so why not let him hoist a few? I can't believe his defense would have hurt them that much. Just my 2 cents.
