SBC Baseball: Weekend Series 3-9 to 3-11 - chiefsfan - 03-09-2018 01:33 AM

Last OOC Weekend of the year gentlemen. Last chance to improve the leagues RPI.

Look at all those road series...Hell, South Alabama and UL got so bored they just decided to play each other anyway even though it doesn't count. And Oh Look, Coastal's hosting a tournament again...because they live in Myrtle Beach and any Cold Weather team on planet earth would give their front teeth to visit Myrtle Beach in Late February and Early March

One day...The Chants are going to play outside of the state of South Carolina...we promise. (They are due for the Tomlinson Stadium treatment next weekend. God bless their poor souls, From Heaven, the beach, one of the nicest parks in America, to well...Tomlinson Stadium)

Anyway, on to the games. May SBC teams win every game they play, except South Alabama and Louisiana. I hope one of you loses that series.

The Road Warriors Weekend Slate:

Texas Arlington at Wichita State
Texas State at Cal Santa Barbara
Appalachian State at Elon
Arkansas State at Missouri State
Little Rock at Memphis
Georgia Southern at Southern Miss
UL Monroe at Stephen F Austin
Georgia State at Samford

We're too cool to play on the road this weekend :

Gardner Webb at Troy

This is So a Non Conference series guys...we promise

South Alabama at Louisiana

The Chanti...Oh Hell, It's Myrtle Beach come play baseball! Tournament

High Point at Coastal Carolina (X2)
Ohio State at Coastal Carolina (X2)

We've played 10 of 11 at home so far. Interested to see how we fare in our first road series of the season.

Hopefully we can get past our Big 10 issues
All 3 of our losses are to Big 10 teams and all by 1 run

RE: SBC Baseball: Weekend Series 3-9 to 3-11 - EigenEagle - 03-09-2018 08:39 AM

I'll be thrilled if we can just win one. Not playing all that well.

RE: SBC Baseball: Weekend Series 3-9 to 3-11 - Bobcat87 - 03-09-2018 02:51 PM

Gauchos are 4-7 overall, 3-1 at home . . .

Looking at their schedule to this point, I think a sweep could be possible . . . just not sure where our pitching is right now.

I'd be happy if we can come home with 2 out of 3. . . .

We’re facing one of the best pitchers in college baseball and our starter picked the wrong day to lose control of his fastball.

Down 8-1 in the 7th

Only took an hour to get through 5 in santa Barbara.

0-0 still.

Bobcats score 1 in the T 6th, and it holds up . . TXST 1-0 winner in game 1 over UCSB.
Cats move to 8-4 on the year.

Fraze looking like the ace we need him to be. Lineup needs to get going. Newman/Ortega still haven't found their groove.

We have a pretty potent lineup this year, and more run production would have been great. . .

. . . still, good to see the guys pull out a gritty 1-0 performance.

Very potent lineup. Unfortunately only collectively hitting about .260 on the season and we've had a pretty light schedule to start the season by our standards. Still patiently waiting, and expecting, to see us start to break out to expectations offensively.

GS and USM no hits or runs in the 4th inning. That'll last until we have to go to relief pitching, though.

CCU crapped the bed against a bad high point
Gave up 6 runs in the 9th

We feel your pain. We've been in a offensive slump for 6 games now.

Cajuns win 1st of non-conference series with USA 2-1 with a brilliant pitching performance by Nick Lee.

RE: SBC Baseball: Weekend Series 3-9 to 3-11 - CardinalBlackTrojan - 03-09-2018 10:08 PM

Troy beats Gardner-Webb by a score of 6-4.

RE: SBC Baseball: Weekend Series 3-9 to 3-11 - EigenEagle - 03-09-2018 10:20 PM

GS and Southern Miss in extra innings, which probably means trouble for us.

RE: SBC Baseball: Weekend Series 3-9 to 3-11 - _x_ - 03-09-2018 10:35 PM

Come on Eagles. That'd be a quality win.

RE: SBC Baseball: Weekend Series 3-9 to 3-11 - chiefsfan - 03-09-2018 11:57 PM

AState lost 12-4.

Missouri State has literally killed us the last 3 years. It's nice to get them back on for a weekend series again, but if we're going to play 3 game series against teams of that caliber, we need to be up near the level that we can win some of the games.

RE: SBC Baseball: Weekend Series 3-9 to 3-11 - _x_ - 03-10-2018 12:14 AM

5-6 night for the league (not counting UL/USA game) drops us from 6th to 8th in conference RPI.

Need a better day tomorrow.
