Even if you don't like classical music.... - BroncoPhilly - 03-05-2018 10:35 PM you have to admire Kathia Buniatishvili's rendition of Claude Debussy's 'Clare de Lune'. Look at the passion in this pianist-and the dress ain't bad either. RE: Even if you don't like classical music.... - Boca Rocket - 03-06-2018 11:06 AM Father was trained as classical pianist, but practiced law.. Grew up with 1928 Steinway and Yamaha grands in the house. Really enjoyed the DeBussy. Here's some Chopin. Yuja Wang, another beauty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_E51SV0Zus RE: Even if you don't like classical music.... - BroncoPhilly - 03-06-2018 11:12 AM My dad was an amateur pianist. I woke up to that Chopin piece being played by him many times when I was living at home. Kathia and Yuja are two great pianists and attractive ladies as well. Listen to Yuja play the Prokofiev 3rd Piano Concerto in Lucerne, Switzerland in 2009. It doesn't get any better than this: RE: Even if you don't like classical music.... - BroncoPhilly - 03-06-2018 11:14 AM Most of the other folks in this forum probably think we're nuts posting this stuff here, but the movement of a good orchestra in synch with each other reminds me of a well-oiled football team offense moving down the field. Everybody hitting on the same notes, meter and movements-poetry in motion! I actually enjoy chamber music as well. I will sit in my recliner and pass out on this stuff. I do the same though with dixieland jazz and bluegrass. Bluegrass probably being my favorite. I play guitar a little, and appreciate the he11 out of Doc Watson. Quality music appreciation seems to be lost on the last generation; but our folks probably said the same thing. Got to see a number of all time greats Doc Watson, Norman Blake , Bill Monroe , etc while I was at Vandy. Use to hang at Sho-Bud and Gruhn's catch players when they would come in. Still keep a Strat and some acoustics. RE: Even if you don't like classical music.... - MajorHoople - 03-06-2018 04:59 PM I recommend those who like classical music and being entertained as well find any videos you can of the great Victor Borge. Truly one of a kind. RE: Even if you don't like classical music.... - brovol - 03-06-2018 09:08 PM (03-06-2018 02:03 PM)Boca Rocket Wrote:(03-06-2018 01:28 PM)brovol Wrote: I love this. All greats. There are actually a few youngsters who enjoy some of the great Americana, folk, blues, and bluegrass styles of the past. My son, who is himself an outstanding guitar player, turned me on to josh turner, who has a channel on YouTube. Great variety of mostly acoustic stuff. Check it out. I'm sure you will like it. I play acoustic exclusively. My son has a Less Paul, but he hasn't played that since before he went to school a couple years ago. We both love the Martins. |
