Week 7 of Conference Play. - NeptunianEmp - 02-14-2018 12:10 AM

CSU vs UMKC. CSU nearly came back from a 20+ point deficit against Seattle but without Fred Sims Jr. that comeback was cut short. On the other hand UMKC knocked off both Seattle and UVU. This could be a big game for CSU to win, or it could mean that the Roos keep their momentum going.

The fun begins with this one.
NMSU vs UVU. NMSU barely survived a red hot GCU on Saturday. UVU lost by 7 points to UMKC. UVU is 12-1 at home this season. NMSU is looking to sweep the competition and break into the Top 25. This one should be good. Don't expect the same game as what happened in Las Cruces. I say a fired up Aggies pull off a close one.

UTRGV vs SU.
Seattle barely won in overtime last time these teams met. This game probably won't go back into overtime but it should be close.

CSUB vs GCU.
Not as hyped up as I expected to be about this game before the season started. GCU should be looking to take out their frustration against CSUB for blowing the lead against NMSU.

Big win by UVU tonight. Was kinda cheering for the Aggies in order to keep alive the slight possibility of two WAC teams in the NCAA, but I must admit it is nice to see the Aggies fall and to hear the UVU faithful chant overrated at the end of the game. Congrats to UVU!
And they did it without Manyang!! Impressive.

Congrats UVU, you guys played hard and were lights out from the 3. Now we need to recuperate and prepare for Seattle

Good game Aggies. Honestly a loss like that is a good thing, should help that very impressive team refocus

Sidenote: I've never understood the "Overrated" chant. Doesn't that diminish the significance of the accomplishment for your own team? NMSU is a phenominally talented and well-coached team. As a fan, my hope would be that beating a strong team like the Aggies doesn't mean that they are actually that bad, but that we are actually that good. Just me?

Well played by UVU, keeping JJ to only 6 rebounds. Aggies screwed up with the free throws.

Good game UVU. Aggies have regressed the last two games, even in the win over GCU. Better get our act together. Now is the time to be peaking, not going backwards.

I agree the overrated chant doesn't make sense. However, it is kind of a back handed way of a student body to say, we just beat a very good team. Weird, I agree, but it makes them feel good, so ... I'm okay with it.

Although I would have liked NMSU to have continued their run, sometimes a loss is good at this stage. It helps you refocus and also realize that there is only one way into the NCAA Tournament.

Nice job UVU.

Yes, congrats to UVU!

I'm not worried about the loss. UVU had to play their best game all season to beat NMSU. NMSU will still win the WAC.

How was the crowd?

The crowd was pretty pathetic. Utah Valley has zero support.

Roos with longest winning streak in WAC now. Who would have thought that a week ago?

I'm just glad GCU is finished playing them. They're definitely on a hot streak.

Funny how the season is over and we won't even play Bakersfield for the first time until tomorrow...

The official attendance was 4271 according to the box score which seems excellent for UVU. Only UVU's game against GCU had higher attendance (4881).

I agree that the WAC title still must go through NMSU. However, UVU beat NMSU without Alkolda Manyang. I'd be a bit worried if I were a fan of the Aggies.

Really?

The last time I checked, NMSU beat UVU by 27 points with Manyang in the game.

He scored 1 point in 25 minutes.

UVU will also not shoot the way they did last night in Las Vegas. Shooting teams like UVU usually struggle in Las Vegas, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose in the first round if they end up playing UMKC.

There is no way in hell Utah Valley had over 4000 for that game. Both big curtains were down and the lower level which they used was not even packed. Inflated numbers big time.

Perhaps that number isn’t wrong, Dancing, so much as it’s an alternative fact. Ha!
